Hello

This will be my first post in this forum. I have read older posts for about a week now, since I first discovered the forum. Thougt I'd might as well join now, since I've finally got my first Breitling.

I am studying to become a pilot, and that kind of justified the investment of the watch I've been dreaming of, the Emergency. I ended up with a new black dialed E, with the Prfofessional II bracelet, and I can't take my eyes of it :D

Atfter searching the net for a while, I've found some E's for sale. Some of them has a strange red thing under the antenna cap, right where the gasket it supposed to be. Do any of you guys know why it's like this? It almost looks like the antenna cap has been unscrewed. See the links:

It's likely an o-ring or gasket used on some of the earlier models. Mine was black.

Well mate worry not.

Mine was a red and then after service it's grey!

Welcome to the E club

Thanks for the reply, mine is also grey.

Does anybody have any first-hand experience with the water resistance on the E? I'm not planning on scuba diving or snorkelling with it, but I'm almost worried with it getting wet after reading the manual...

I've worn mine swimming in the pool on holiday, no problem at all!

If an E has a red band showing it means the grey rubber seal is missing, they apparently are known to fall apart and go AWOL! Someone also told me once that if the red band is showing it means that it hs been unscrewed all the way, don't quite believe that any more!

If you look at the photos for the first listing you can just see the remainder of the seal that has a small pin that locates in a hole in the casing.

Does anyone else think the second listing is a bit iffy? Some pics show the red band, some don't. Also I'm sure that the watch with the nylon strap isn't the same as the one with the rubber strap, the crown is a lot less marked on the nylon strap pictures!?

This is what I noticed too. The pictures might be from different periods of time though

Is there a second gasket or sealing of the antenna, or is this grey one the only one? Might be a problem if they are known to fall of.

Mats,

I'm pretty sure there would be another seal inside the antenna caps themselves that would create a seal against the case when tightened, now who's going to unscrew it and have a look................
