I guess people are just less interested in things like this and forum watch projects than they used to be......

I know the last project was a bust unfortunately Driver but are you considering attempting another one anytime soon? I for one would be interested...

Shame about the voting. I guess bigger doesn't necessarily mean more active or interested.

Hiya Tim, bit off topic but no I won't be attempting to get another watch project off the ground anytime soon. As I found out, they actually take a lot of time and effort to even start to get off the ground, and when they don't meet with a lot of enthusiasm it's quite disappointing. I really take my hat off to Altair who managed to get 2 projects taken through to completion (even though his attempt at a third one fell flat on it's face!) - it must've added YEARS to his age!

Just voted - it does take a while, but that's just the early rounds. Don't know what it would take to "drive" members to the polls, maybe an inducement from our favourite BS Admin, such as, all who vote in at least one round may also receive an entry for a modest raffle prize? :poke: Each round that you vote in would get you an additional entry in the raffle to a maximum of 6 entries.

Glad we don't elect our governments with a 0.003% voter turnout! It seems the trend is for lower voter participation rates in the real world, except where voting is mandatory, or where the right to vote has recently been extended, but could you imagine almost no one showing up? :soapbox: At the municipal level in Canada we routinely elect representatives with only 15 to 25% of registered voters making it to the polls!

Less than 24 hours before polls close on the Best Breitling 2013 contest. Yes, it's merely a fun exercise, but turnout is rather low. You can make a difference, it just takes a small investment of your time. :) :cheer:

Yes, thanks bnewbie, you're absolutely right, the most direct route! No intent to confuse things, there is access also through the first thread in the Breitling Discussion section.

A BIG shoutout to "the PROF" Roff for taking the time and effort to pull this all together  :!:

As a newbie here it is a great way to learn about the history and data about all the beautiful :lingsrock:

The first poll took some time to get through~ and the match ups between older and newer was a struggle, but what fun to see who takes the second year winner status :D

THANKS again ROFF for the time and effort :!:

Wow...

An 806 vs. a Navi B01?

That was like asking me to pick between my mother and... my mother? in a life and death situation.

Glad to see the vintage pieces throwing a few wrenches in the gears this season. :cheer:

Some more tough ones in there, but most were again no-brainers for me.

I've said this before, and I know we represent a very small demographic of Breitling buyers, but it'd be great if Breitling took this kind of thing as free market research, and used the output to influence future models.

So far, it's pretty clear that we (as a group) generally really like the classically styled Navitimer and TOC models, and both in-house movements (although the Chronomat GMT 44's early bath surprised me a little), and movements with complications (given the huge number of 1461 equiped models still going strong).

The increase in the number of vintage pieces making it through this year may also be an indication of a preference towards the more traditionally-styled models, although it could equally be just as a result of greater exposure to them on here via the superb collection (and photos there-of) by Fred and the like. Either way it's a good thing IMO.

I know it's just a bit of fun, but I always find this an interesting exercise. So get your votes in guys!

It is so interesting to go back through the older links and read the discussions that went on between the members...

(laugh of the day)

In one older link a member with great vintage insight (WF) got a little frustrated AFTER translating a vintage GERMAN instruction booket to ENGLISH and came up with a classic........R T F M :!: :!:

:uplaugh: :uplaugh:

The watches are beautiful....and the voting is free....enjoy

What are you, new?

Breitling don't need market research - they only sell 78,000 watches a year fewer than they did 5 years ago so everything is going perfectly!!!

 I was attempting for a more subliminal message to Breitling by not mentioning the famous "we don't do market research line". You've just gone and spoilt my cunning plan now, Roff!

Just looked at the current state of play with the voting, and there's a few surprises there -

The "Cult of the Big Date BB" is once again carrying that one through at the moment against what should've been a strong challenger in the Monty Datora, given our apparent love of all things Navi here.

I'm very surprised the 784 / 785 Datora is beating the Seawolf II GMT - go on Old timer!

I'm really surprised at how close the Navi World vs the 809 Cossie is. I thought the World (given it's popularity) would run away with that one. I guess it shows how much vintage pieces are getting recognition here now.

The Monty 1903 is something of a dark horse this year - it's already put out a personal fav of mine, the Chronomat GMT 44, and now it's comprehensively beating the Bentley Le Mans. Not bad going at all for a relatively unknown piece.

Lastly - quite a tough draw for the Chronomat 01 this round. It's clearly more popular this year as it went out in round one last year I think, but going up against the universally loved TO (and the 1461 version as well) was always going to be a tough call.
