If you take a look at the pics, it would seem there are two reference numbers stamped on the caseback. Obviously it wouldn't be the serial number because there separate numbers inside. I know a 781 is a double register but what's the other number for?

Seems original and would make a great fixer upper if I'm not mistaken.

I've seen the double stamped different reference numbers before on vintage Breitling's. The case design is consistent with the ref 760 (just had one). Since the serial number is very early the unmarked bridge is most likely correct and the double stamp just a strange anomaly.

Thanks Paul. It was indeed strange because the font for 781 and 760 looks the same, worn the same, and it was indeed quite strange, so I had a feeling that this one couldn't be altered.
