Another vote for the old version in yellow. Much better looking with the black numbers.

Fine report.

I have the original titanium Seawolf Avenger with the yellow dial (on the later pro II bracelet) - surely that should be Seawolf I?
-and the original steel Seawolf, again with a yellow dial and pro II bracelet.

I had almost set my heart on the Ti model in 2008 until I learnt of the imminence of the (then) new steel version; so I waited and compared both with the Ti narrowly winning. When I heard three years later that my AD had a worn-once steel model going at 30% below list I happily obliged and decided to stop at two watches.

I had mixed feeling when I learned of the new Seawolf; curiosity tempered with a hope that I wouldn't like it (for the sake of my bank balance!). Wearing my original steel as a comparison the most obvious difference to me was the way that the cobra yellow dial of the new model made the custard dial of the previous one look washed out - though I'm happy to report that in isolation it still looks great - particularly in sunlight.

I'd suggest that the new pro II bracelet has lost much of the strong design of the pro I and to these eyes could be from any number of brands whilst reading from other posts I'd imagine the extended lugs would do my skinny wrists no favours (it was hard to tell in the AD's as the bracelet had the full number of links - naturally).

So from initially thinking of changing steel I for steel II I've decided to stick with what I already have.

I'm glad my first significant contribution to this forum has been well received. Thanks for all the positive replies.

Apologies for not replying to some of the questions sooner, I literally wrote the review in the departure lounge of Gatwick airport, pressed submit and then boarded a plane to Greece for a well deserved holiday!

I did not mean any offence to owners/fans of the SW2, my review was purely my own subjective view. Personally I love the look of the SW2, it's an evolutionary design change rather than revolutionary and as a stand alone piece it looks great. I was torn between the two watches as to which to buy and it was only the change in how it wears that ultimately tipped me in favour of the SW1. If they wore identically I'd be in a real dilema now!

It's only perhaps the yellow SW2 that has disappointed me, the new metal numerals just don't stand out enough against the yellow like they do on the functional looking black and yellow face of the SW1. The new emergency 2 in yellow looks great as the numerals are dark grey and if the seawolf 2 had similar colouring I think it would have worked better. But again that is just my opinion and is made without looking at one in real life.

The AD wouldn't let me take pics because of security reasons, incase I was casing the joint! This is despite me being on first name terms with the staff and them having all my contact details and having met me numerous times over the last few years!

I called the watches SW1 and SW2 as Breitling refer to the new model as the SW2 so I assumed the previous model was the SW1... the original being the SW Ti of course.

So now I have the nice problem of choosing a colour. I think I'm going to buy the grey one. Different enough from my black dial watches but can appear black at certain angles anyway. Plus it looks great on a brown leather strap. Every so often I think I should be brave and go yellow but I think it will loose it's versatility over the years and as it will be my only expensive watch purchase for a long time I want the maximum wearability from what ever I buy. Also a more safe grey colour allows me to wear alot of different colour and style of straps which is important to me as I am a bit of a strap junkie. Off to London on saturday to have a browse including a trip to the New Bond Street flagship store so if I do buy anything I'll let you know!

Again thanks for all the positive comments, am enjoying being an active member on this friendly forum.
