Edit by Roff. After a lengthy discussion around this the OP made some comments that made me go back and check the photos a bit more. Now looks to me like the quality fake - anyone confirm for me? - http://oi44.tinypic.com/2zednvs.jpg

A couple of days ago I noticed my watch stopped. So I youtubed how to change the time on a superavenger and changed it and it was fine.

Now today again I take a look at the watch and the time stopped. I dont remember what the time was when it stopped a couple of days ago, but it looks to be around the same.

The watch is my uncles so I dont have any papers or instructions, hence having to youtube how to change time.

Although I know its not my fault because the watch just lays on a table when I'm not wearing it, I am freaking out a bit. I know my uncle doesnt have money to service it.

Why could this problem be happening?? Please help. Thank you in advance.

I tried to set the time to 1145, the date moved a little and is now in between (august) 31 and (september) 1. The 31 looks crooked.

I think I just broke my uncles $5 thousand dollar watch and I'm in serious panic mode. Please help.

I've searched this topic on google and apparantly I have to wind the watch? i have no idea what that means.

Did I break the watch?

Well hopefully the date is just changing - but changing time or date around midnight is something to avoid.

If the watch isn't being worn then it's going to stop - the power reserve only lasts around 42 hours. To wind the watch simply unscrew the crown but don't pull it out as you did to set the time, just leave it in the position that it goes to when unwound.

Then turn the crown - if you are right handed then turn the crown away from you (i.e. hold between finger and thumb with thumb on top and push thumb away) for at least 40 turns - you can't overwind an automatic so you can't do too many.

If it's just run down then it will start working again. Please do not try adjusting time or date while it is sitting there around midnight.

Get the watch running first. DO NOT change the date with the time around midnight under any circumstances. If the watch starts running then try and fix the date using the quick set at around 6:00 and see if it centres correctly.

The watch runs fine. Its the date thats screwy. The number 1 is still not fully showing but I feel like its coming into place very slowly. Or maybe my eyes are deceiving me. I'll come back in a couple hours, see if maybe the 1 will be fully centred by then. Its like 98% there with the previous number (31) still peaking a tiny tiny bit.

Thanks for all the help man

As I said, when the watch shows about 6 o'clock use the quick set date to try and centre the date. It's entirely possible that by messing around with it in the danger zone of 8pm - 3am the date wheel has been damaged, it is also possible that a quick adjustment of the quick set is all that is needed. Quick set position is the first pull on the crown - further out than winding, but not out so far as setting the time. Again, do not do it between an indicated time of 8 and 3.

Ok I will try at 6. In your opinion, does it need more centering? Is more centering even possible?

I tried keeping the camera (on the phone) straight as possible. You see what I mean by not fully there right?

Can I move the date slightly to center it? Or will it skip over to 2 if I try?

I can't see a problem with it, but the photo is not straight on. It doesn't appear to be partially changed so suspect that is as good as it's going to get. See how it changes overnight.
