Yes Roff, but you can find these also in Benno Richter, on page 129

Your eyesight is better than mine if you can see a Venus 195 in those

It is all assumption as Roff has pointed out. No one has and probably ever will come forth and say with documentation, " It was me".

Oh yes Wayne, I think I can remember to have seen papers of some of these "re-editions" that were signed personally by Mr. Schneider. I think Rene (Dracha) once had one of those.

my personal opinion
the 'found in the Breitling factory' can be taken with a few grains of salt , how about 'during the late 80ies early 90ies a batch of NOS Venus movements were found in the ESA factory and were sold off to ML, Breitling (and others?)'

Maybe you are right Rene, but my humble opinion is that Mr. Schneider at the time when he "bought" Breitling (for 100000, - Swiss Francs), had very little capital and therefore once everything has sold what he found in the old Breitling factory, and assembled the rest, including the Venus calibers and old cases, which were still in stock. Venus was already bankrupt 12 years ago, so I think that Willy Breitling had then bought the calibers of Venus yet, but had not recovered, same with this old Eberhart calibres. only my opinion.

The Venus 195 calibres, which we see in this thread are original signed with "BREITLING", only the dials are not original.

Only Mr. Schneiders knows it real, but he will never say it.

Yes Roff, everything that is discussed in this forum here are only personal opinions and empirical experiences. None of us was there or has accurate production records or facts of what was produced in Breitling in the years 1840 to 1979, not even Mr. Schneider.

I still dont buy the old 'found in warehouse' story
Schneider took over the company in 79/80 and 12 years later (1990-92) these pieces were produced
12 years is a long time to build up liquidity

I am more inclined to stick to my hypothesis that Breitling and ML were both offered the same batch of movement and each took part of the batch. ML built their Masterpieces with it , Breitling their re-issues

http://members.chello.nl/~h.mennink/wat ... rpiece.htm

"Retired as Product Head in 2004, René Baumann (pictured on the left), is the inventor of the Masterpiece concept. He is the reason that ML is not yet another "boutique brand". The Product Head is responsible for the so typical ML styling, and was always on the lookout for stocking whole series of old calibers."

"a 2004 addition to the series of watches ML produces in limited numbers with old watch movements that are no longer produced. The handwound Venus 175 caliber is a beautiful column-wheel chronograph."
