What is the "quick-set" function and how does it work. Is it available on all models? What is a "tang"? Thanks in advance

"Quick-set" relates to the date setting function. It's the function on most (but certainly not all) movements that allows you to quickly advance the date without having to wind the watch through 24 hours each time to move the date on. It's usually a "position 1" on the crown when you pull it out one notch. (The second notch, or position 2 being where you set the time). It works but simply engaging a different set of gears on the date wheel.

The "tang" is the pointy bit of a buckle that goes through the hole in a strap. i.e. "tang and buckle" sometimes referred to as a "pin buckle".

Thanks for your quick responses guys. I figured out what deployant buckle was from the glossary, thought tang was an "old fashioned buckle" but wanted to make sure. Do they really have watches that you have to wind the hands manually to change the date. That could be a real ***** and take a while. Thanks goodness for quickset.
