Interesting piece I haven't seen before. Serial number dates it to 1950 which seems correct for the style but never seen this movement before with the pushers. Condition is amazing. Reference number is consistent with other Breitlings from this time period.

Maybe some Breitling bits there, but not original - a three hand with pushers????????

Seems to me I remember this guy posting this one awhile back with no luck.

MASSIVE doubts. movement is an ETA 1168, a "simple chronograph" like the Lapanouse or Phenix:
sweep second is running continuously, pusher at 2h stops the hand when depressed, pusher at 4 resets.

there is no record whatsoever that Breitling used these, if it is defined as a chronograph it would be early 40s, afaik the 1168 was introduced in the mid 50s only, but unsure abt this ?

Agreed Fred, I could find nothing on this at all. Just another pretty fake.

Just goes to show that a watch that is expertly put together by someone that has done some research can be presented as a legitimate piece if it checks off most of the boxes that people look for. Appropriate Patina, logical reference number, unusual enough that no one can say, without any definite proof, it's a fake just because they haven't seen one before. I've seen plenty of pieces from Breitling that nobody has seen before that were genuine. They always pop up. If this seller had listed the piece at a starting price of $1 I think it would sell in the $300-$600 range without much trouble. I see people spending over $300 for awful fakes everyday.

Yes that is true I have seen one or two myself. I question this one more coming from the dealer not being a true watch aficionado. If it were a better dealer with a better reputation I might think a little more. This could be more of a "get my money back" on a poor deal he made.
It is just a shame that in this day of the really good fakes that those real rare gems when they do pop up are questioned.

Breitling always positioned itself as THE chronograph company - do not see them using a low end "Lapanouse"-type chronostopper like the ETA 1168. Admit that I accept strange watches as the Navi 3-hands without proper documentation, but this goes a bit too far. might change my mind if I see a dozen of them.

Why not ? 1 example of 3 hands + pushers = Superocean... but this one just sounds as another try of creative addition to Breitling story .

SO has the indicator addition - don't think that I have ever seen a straight 3 hands Breitling with just 3 hands. As Fred says it would have to be the simplified chrono movement and to the best of my knowledge there aren't any Breitlings with that (or is my dim and dusty memory remembering a weir Chronomat???)
