Back to the topic... :)

Besides watches, I collect whisky. I absolutely enjoy a good wine, but as I drink them they never stay long enough to become "collected".

Do you collect and drink Scotch? If so, what types? I want to buy a couple of bottles, but am unsure what direction to go in...

I don't exactly collect guitars, I just seem to have collected a lot! Like watches, I can only use one at a time but I've ended up with more than a dozen!

I do download music compulsively. Heaven knows how many albums I know have on the hard drive. Must be 3000+.

Yes. I both collect and drink, but collect in a faster pace than drink. :) I'm interested in all types, but what mainly goes into the collection is older "hard to find"-bottles or bottlings. Islay whisky is a favorite with it's peaty aroma, but I'm also quite interested in small batch Bourbons.

The direction for you is just as with watches - go the way you like most. Of course, if it's more of an investment than for pleasure I'd go for the VERY old bottles - they will always be a good investment. For a little bit of both investment/pleasure I'd go for rare bottlings/distilleries in the range of 20-40 years old.

Whisky, unlike wine, will not change when it's in the bottle so you an't mature them in your vault. And as with watches, the more of boxes/documentation you keep the more they will be valued.

Hope that was at least a little bit helpful - if not I'm happy to write more... :)

I have no problem with the discussion of firearms.. If someone does have a problem and gives me some good reasons why I shouldn't allow firearm discussion, please PM me. As long as you're not showing pics of you peggin' people off, its fine. Just talking about the peices.

Perhaps because of my personal collection of blades, there is a tendancy to meet a lot of firearm collectors as well and that's made me oblivious to how they can be offensive? Anyway.. go ahead, talk about 'em. Like I said, if it offends anyone, PM me and let me know why :)

My interests, which may or may not be "collections":
Watches
Knives
Hi-Fi
DVD/Movies
Music/CD's

If I could afford to I would collect automobiles.

Right now I have been slowly collecting vintage skateboard decks. I have a couple of them hanging on the walls in my sons room at the moment.

My uncle has a crazy collection of wine, dom, and cigar boxes, its weird. He has some OLD shit, some old doms and some really old single-malt Scottish whiskey.

Anyone ever tried really old single-malt Scottish whiskey?
