I took a chance with this one and thanks to Fred who kindly didn’t join in the bidding I was fortunate to win this at a very reasonable price, some of you may remember it. I thought there was real potential in it so I swooped. The watch arrived and was still a looker even without its crown. So off it went to the legendary Dalesman, I waited like so many of you have done like a kid waiting for Christmas and here she is

My Breitling Toptime 2000 1966 Valjoux 7730 looking very nearly as good as the day she was sold. I have not posted a movement picture as per Craig’s wishes but the serial dates to 1966 unless I have read Fred’s serial number thread wrong.

The most pleasing thing for me with these two was bringing them back to life again. A big thank you to Craig for his sterling work

Craig aka Chronodecco from this forum restored this watch and has asked if I would refrain from showing pictures of his work so I will respectfully comply with his wishes. I do have these pics and they are fascinating to look at as there was some rust found in a small area inside. Plus this is a top loader and you can't take the back off which is a shame as I too would like to take some more pics myself

I think these where waterproof when they came out hopefully some of the experts will help me out with some more info on this , I believe they are a bit of a nightmare to work on as you have to take the movement out from the front when you need to adjust things. Hence me taking a bit of a chance on buying it, a very risky decision as there was no crown and you can never be quite sure what's inside, thankfully I was lucky.

To all members - I meant to respond to this post several days ago but it slipped my mind.
Regarding postings of pictures that I send to my customers - I have no problem with ANY of them being posted on BS including the movement. However - I do send a note with the initial pics that states: "MY PICTURES ARE CONFIDENTIAL. PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY OF MY PICTURES ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE INTERNET". I like to be totally transparent with the work that I do, especially sending picture to customers of the defective parts in their movement. It is hard to imagine that this could work against me but it has in the past. I won't go into the details here but you can imagine what COULD happen if someone started shopping your pics around on several watch forums for second opinions! This has happened to me and I would prefer that it not happen again.
From now on I will add to the not above - "WITHOUT MY PERMISSION". I also think it best to add a watermark to all of them from now on so they won't show up on ebay for sale by some scammer. This has also happened to me but it was several years ago.
Thanks, Craig

Great work by Craig.

@Craig: do understand your concern, I guess you mean we can post pics of the movement we might click after a service if we wanted to share movement pics but not the fully unassembeld ones you click and send to us?

Just dunk your photo under water for a few minutes, then post a photo. You'll definitely see some watermarks then ;-)

As for craig's work... I thought I'd seen it all on here before, but this one has really impressed me. Looking at the initial dial photos, I thought parts of it were beyond repair and had rubbed off (i.e. the B and R in 'Breitling') but the dial has come back looking superb!

(better add a disclaimer in case someone comes here from google looking for watermarks... plus don't ever submerge your vintage watch!)

Since there's not much that can be done for old dials this was probably just an old crystal that made the dial look so bad and replacing that had the desired result.

Yes that's it, just a new crystal and clean.
