I think the RO bracelet is the best looking and meticulously finished I have ever seen.

Agree completely on finishing, but it does have a rather dated look to me. Obviously that's subjective, but that sort of 'connected flat panel' bracelet always seems a bit 1970s in my eyes.

Agreed. Something just doesn't do it for me. The rubber however is awesome

I agree 100%!!! The bracelet is fantastic.

AP is an acquired taste but the finishing on the watch, dial, and bracelet is truly spectacular.

It is always a matter of personal taste, but "dated" "1970s" don't always equate to wrong. I'd be honored to wear this dated looking piece -

Those flat pieces of bracelet can give off a shimmering cascade of reflections in the light. That bracelet is, at once, a beautifully restrained brushed finish but also with the right light, a true stunner. Now I miss mine again, darn. And then there's that Breguet above, saw that one last year. Stunning in its own right, and as I tell people who don't like endorsers, Breguet's "brand representatives" are Bonaparte and Churchill, to name a couple. That RO is maybe my favorite watch, but Breguet probably my favorite watchmaker.

Absolutely - but not on an AP bracelet :poke:

I'm really unsure of AP. I like the look of some, think some look too much like an 'old man' watch and do wonder about the price point. The finish does appear spectacular so I guess I need to go try one on  I used to think I'd like to own a ROO Safari one day but the size unfortunately scuppered that idea. Not sure I'll ever be convinced to own one.

I think the RO is much like a sub in that it is very recognizable and has sparked many an imitation... All the way up to Patek. At the same time it is made by one of the most respected manufactures (well sortof) of the watch world...

So it is kind of the rich man's Sub. A symbol that will give anyone the impression that its wearer not only made it, but made it in a way that prices him or her out of anything the steel Rolex has to offer.

This perception might be objectively wrong and it might even seem pathetic to some... But I'm rather convinced many a RO-owner had exactly that in mind when he or she put the money onto the counter.

This notwithstanding, I find the 15202 rather beautiful if somewhat small and the 15400 could someday be part of my cellection.

First though... I have something else in mind that may well prove to be both prettier and horologically more interesting.

I agree with Tim and Fred. Technical expertise and manufacturing excellence aside, these watches make their presence felt I am sure, once they are on the wrist of a wearer. You are either part of that world or you are not. I don’t have the time to get involved, so I look for alternatives.

So, I am really interested in what Fred is thinking. Do tell us more.

Well its very flat... And its made of steel and it only has two hands... Much like a 15202... But it isnt that... It isnt from AP at all actually... It is also staggeringly beautiful and would be a totally new direction in my collection.

The bracelet is best described as "silk". Try one on and youll understand.

If I could have any watch (assuming that I took value into consideration), it would either be a royal oak chrono, or some variant of a ROO.

Asking why APs are so ridiculously priced, is only relative to the person asking and their respective budget. This could be asked of nearly any watch we see here on the forum. How many times have we been told by someone outside these forums that we're crazy for dropping the cash we do for watches?
I buy what my wife allows me to buy.
I'd been looking at AP for quite some time and finally picked up my first AP last week.

I tried on this AP Diver the other day. Looked nice on the wrist, but the screw down bezel dial adjuster is not very user friendly. It really needs to be on the right hand side of the watch. I, like several on here, have trouble justifying the price. I haven't been able to get over that +$10K hump yet.
