Good lord that's bad - definitely do not pay if you were the high bidder.

Thank you all very much. Dare I even ask what the tells are? I had some questions about the script on the bridge, the movement in general as well as the date hand. What else is there?

All Breitling markings are wrong - look at the zoomed image of the dial and you can see that it has been added (badly). Serial number is also completely inconsistent with a Breitling serial number.

all wrong, case, dial, hands, movement markings, caseback, missing ref. no., wrong serial.
dial is a brand new, as are the hands; logo is quite a bit off too.

edit: Roff beat my by a second or so. damn, we are fast.

You guys are awesome, thank you. One last thing, is there somewhere you would suggest to go to buy an authentic vintage Breitling?

Regards,

James

Bill Shaine used to be very reliable, some of the last listings and descriptions were ..... creative, to put it mildly.
Standard advice is ebay and chrono24.com; post it here for verification.

You can definitely do well with eBay if you're patient and astute ( and ask here). The thing that always amazes me about eBay is that some great watches go for reasonable money , but a lot of rubbish goes for huge money , make sure you bid on what you know and ask if you don't !!!!

You have to be careful though, this listing is private and on face value it had 25 bids, but look a little closer and there were only 5 bidders - IMHO - it's a low bid vs bidder ratio !!!

Additionally, this seller is buying an awful lot of very cheap vintage chronographs watches and all his auctions are private, the old adage is buy the seller first and I think this is a perfect example of why you need to do that !!

Graham
