I watched a Heuer Computer count down about 12 months ago. It fetched a very healthy sum as it was in mint condition. Cal 12. It came with the original box and papers and the warrantee page from the original sale. Even the original braclet. It looked too good to be true, but I think it was the real thing. Must have been lost down the back of the couch for 40 years! :) It was great to see just how that had been packaged at the time, as it was all there. Stunning. As you say, very rare to see old watches with all its associated paperwork.

Watches like these, that are in very good condition (I agree with Fred on the first one) fetch a good to fantastic sales price and with little or no provenance. I am not a connoisseur, which is easy to tell, so I would have a dry mouth and sweaty palms bidding on one of these.

Leads me to ask this, and with apologies to anyone here who might be offended, as its not intended. Has anyone ever written the equivalent of a Catalogue Raisonné for Bretiling?

Guys, just a note of gratitude for what has been a very good read on these watches and vintage Breitling in general. I am new to vintage breitling and very much love these chrono-matic's and will likely post a picture of mine one day soon. :) I am a long time collector and have had a very eclectic collection from Panerai to Roger Dubuis and even moderated a Panerai forum at one point. I'm not new to boxes & papers or the lack there of with most "Vintage". That said.... Vintage Panerai, although made from "unobtainium" is easier to research due to books like "Vintage Panerai" by Volker & Ralf. Breitling seems to be a bit harder to research in my experience but also more palatable from a collector/wearability standpoint.

Thanks again for this great thread and I look forward to reading more about these great pieces and hope to join the ownership ranks soon!!
