Yes, as Roff says, and since I hate the heat, I only wish that were true! Highs of, what, 16-17c in Sydney - 34c is forecast for the south of England today. Yuk.

Yes, very good Tom.

I like coming to this thread to see what everyone contributing here think about the test.

Exactly! I haven't seen any acrimony! I get the feeling if an Aussie cricketer turned up there'd be acrimony!

Agree 100%, if I thought that anything needed saying then as a moderator I would say so. This hasn't even got close to the radar - some friendly banter between a superior and inferior nation, that's all :poke:

Yeah the threads been good - not bad for a 3rd go around.

Well done England. It must be nice to have 22 players instead of 11

Seriously though if Australia doesn't work out how to bat then it's going to be a 10-nil series.

That's pretty close to how we're feeling at the moment! We used to be so good at sport: rugby, cricket, cycling, tennis, squash, the Olympics, hockey... Now we'd struggle to win an Australian rules football world champs!

Hopefully their new Prince will distract them for the next test?

(congrats of course to the Duchess, as part of the monarchy as well down here, I was glad to hear he was born safely)

My apologies guys. Probably feeling at bit that way myself. I am glad of the conversation here as its has been a good read in the main. Even though I have not contributed much. Glad its all in good spirits. :)

We do need to cheer up though. Crickets not everything. We have just completed one of the best Aussie showings at TDF this year, and it’s almost as though no one knows back home as there were no podium finishes for them at the end. Probably not true, but it feels like its not set the world on fire. Anyway, if you want a diversion the Grand Tours are a good watch, with the Vuelta a España coming up in about 4 weeks time. We may see some Aussies in action again. :superman:

I was astounded in the TDF by Richie Porte, Simon Gerrans and Mick Rogers. Always knew they were good, but they all made the tour compulsive viewing. Rogers is proving a master tactician of the three week race and Porte can put the hammer down in mountain stages when he is called on to do so. I even noticed Froome had to get him to slow down a couple of times to pace a manageable tempo on the H Category climbs. All credit to Froome for his win though, as he made it look very easy. A humble and decent man too.

Porte was amazing on the tour, I do hope he is clean as that would make it all the more amazing to see the way he and Froome climb.

And team OGE were outstanding this year, always up in the action, and to have a few days in yellow in their 2nd only tour was great to see!

Yes, I think Gerry Ryan has a real spring in his step these days. He is quite a Team Owner. Getting Matty White back on the Mangement team was a good move too. Good to see Impy get a go at the Yellow as well. Great for African Cycling.

Theres a bit of a promise from Sky to Porte for the Giro in 2014, to be the lead rider. Hope that works out for both the team and Richie. He deserves some time to show what he is made of and perhaps win a few stages, or take the Pink in the GC classifactions. Its a big call, as no one it seems can get high placings in both the Giro and TDF in the one year. He does not want to sacrifice himself if he needs to be the Grande Domestic and protector for Froome next year. But thats 12 months away and anything can happen.

Wanting to howl in frustration at the DRS. What it boils down to at the moment is that the standing umpire gets the benefit of the doubt instead of the batsman. That means a bad decision is compounded because the 3rd umpire needs compelling evidence the standing umpire is wrong. He ought to simply answer the qn "is there enough evidence that the batsman is out?" Khawaja's career is on the line here.

Agree completely, the system needs to be reviewed. Haven't seen any of it today, but sounds like a horrible decision yet again and overshadows what sounds like a very good knock so far by Michael Clarke.

Yes, DRS use strange.

Clarke's not been in long; it's Rogers (82*) who's really played well.
