It's the same watch discussed here - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=48064

Apparently one thread wasn't enough.

Replate? I'd have to have it in my hands to tell because the pics look real good. Having had a couple replated before this one has very sharp edges on the case, absolutely no deterioration on the bottom of the case which is very common for high mileage plated watches, and the back of the case looks as good as the rest of it. The hands might have been restored/relumed at some time and the gold plating altered. Index ring probably is a replacement item but a lot of people prefer something that looks good vs a peeling original. Still a great looking piece that will do a decent price without much trouble. Seems like most people prefer this look rather than patina. :?

I dont agree with the sharp edges but I agree with your assessment of what people want

re sharp edges :
what I have held in my hands the bottom edges on lugs from 806's are really sharp
in this example you can see the flattened edge on the lug (light reflection) so its not as sharp as I expect it to be, best seen in the edge closest to the bottom of the pic. mind you though , I havent held a plated 806 in my hands

While I grant that photos can be deceiving where colour is concerned, the colour is off for original, and as Fred suggests, condition is way too good for that to be original plating, especially with evidence of it not being locked in a drawer for 50 years (like the non OEM outer sliderule).

locked in a vacuum chamber, no seal mounted. ideally right next to the Mona Lisa or so.
good work though.
