Nice, what are the rad/rem/sievert readings in your neck of the woods?

Yes. Point taken.

But you can see the clear difference between your example of worn out rubbish and the majority of eBay crap!

yes, I can.

collecting vintage watches is not like walking into a department store and asking for the "NOS iconic vintage watches" - it takes time, patience, a good eye, quite a bit of luck and some good friends you can ask. there are many nice and correct pieces out there, some even surprisingly affordable, but you have to either hunt patiently, pay outrageous sums - or just go and buy "a new one".

Yes, I've gathered that. So where do you guys find these? Is there a medium that is most likely to yield them? I have no contacts in the watch making/selling industry, so seems as though chances are going to be slim?

ebay is your best bet by far if you are hunting for that "affordable icon".

if you do not want to spend the time, have a look at chrono24.com, some decent watches there.

Excellent, thanks Fred. I was beginning to think eBay was a dud. By the way, that gold chronomat of yours is fantastic. Love it, and keep showing it off.

will show some other 18k 769s next week, there's a thin line between showing and showing off.

Good on you Fred, the best way to create vintage watch awareness and interest amongst the younger Gen is to keep posting pictures of those character filled beauties!

Is this a 2000? I have a similar, gold plated one from 1965.
