Hi there everyone. I'm looking to buy my first vintage Breitling and came across a nice looking one on an online dealers site. I just about pulled the trigger but decided to get your opinions first. He states its a refinished dial, so that I am fine with. What I am concerned about is the caseback. It has no printing on the back just a serial number on the inside which seems way too low (285328?) So what do you think? I'm ok if its somewhat of a frankenwatch as it will be a wearer for me more than a collectible, but I just don't want to buy a total fake.

Absolute fake ! More simple than looking at export code, you can see that the movement is not a Venus 175 with column Wheel but a ... Landeron ! :guns: :guns: :guns:

well, we knew it would be a mass production fake.

nobody invests that kind of money for case & bezel manufacturing,
dial dies, hands etc. (we are talking thousands of dollars, even
based on China prices) to fake one watch ....

we will see those for years - and ebay will let them sell.

Yes, with such things it will become harder and harder for non specialists to buy safely . And irony is that giving details here on what is correct and not will also help the fake foundries to improve their production .

yep, this is why I prefer not to go into the MANY errors on this one specifically.
it actually is quite a poor effort.

Well thanks everyone for confirming my suspensions. This watch is for sale at http://www.girards.com/sell/page2.shtml Now I know one dealer to totally avoid, I'm sure the "I don't know much about these watches" means I know its totally fake.
