Well, most of us :brewing:

I've never personally been a fan of the mesh bracelets, but that watch is spectacular, and of course Craig was the perfect choice to work on it as we already know.

That is a beautiful timepiece you have and the Rolex is as well.

I do not have my serial number written down at the moment and am awaiting the return of the watch from Craig. I will need to circle back to you on that. Thanks for posting the photos of your beautiful V72, 1955 Breitling!

Thanks mate, loved seeing your beauty too. Do post more pics and wrist shots when you get yours from Craig, who sure does a great job!

Thanks for your serial, sort of siblings and not that far off from 8449**

PS: I suggest you hide the last 2 numbers of your serial for safety reasons.

Just noticed a slight difference on my caseback, yours has the 806 inscribed which explains yours being slightly later in serial than mine and yours possibly made in lesser numbers with the 806 inscribed caseback for V72's. Also I have " Breitling" inscribed first and then "Stainless steel" and in reverse to your caseback which must have changed when Breitling christened the watch to the 806 reference, very interesting detail.

I think there was a difference in the dial wing logo design too between your and my version, something to do with the jagged wing underside, can anyone confirm what the difference was?

Btw you can edit the original post to hide the last 2 digits of your serial.

My 55 V72 says hello on one of the steel bracelets commonly offered as an option in that era maybe by Breitling dealers, not a Breitling bracelet but appropriate for that V72 era. Can't recall the brand since I now have the watch on leather and the bracelet is lying somewhere. Wondering how close we are in serials, mine is 8449**, yours?

Checked my past references to the bracelet on mine. It is a Champion bracelet, was a Japanese company that produced bracelets for many watch brands back then and is period correct for the watch though not a Breitling bracelet. Also, itseems the most common ones on them were the expandable Speidel bracelets and the Lizard straps.

I won’t go into a discussion about originality of your bracelet, but if the invoice is correct, and it really is the invoice for that bracelet, (I have no reason to doubt either) then I can see no reason to claim that this bracelet is not “original”. . . . ! !

Kurt B

I don’t know if you are missing anything, if the situation is unchanged, then none of us have any reason to doubt that the bracelet the invoice refers to is the pictured one (which by no means is is proof, that it actually is).
I have seen too much mess, cheating and confusion with Vintage Navitimers, accessories & paperwork, to go by anything but my stomach feeling & common sense.

But hey, don’t go by my opinion, go by your own . . . . . ! !

let me chime in.
Rene did NOT claim these were available for the Navitimers, his bracelet came with a ref. 765 AVI, he has the bracelet and the invoice in hand.

as stated above, these "case fit" mesh bracelets were offered and sold by Breitling in the mid 1950s, both the SuperOcean ad from 1957 and the watch in my safe leave no room for "opinion" about this ?

taking the thread about this beautiful watch a bit off topic with the bracelet discussion, but may we hear something like "I erred" regarding those hands you claimed Craig had ruined, Kurt ?

First of all, I have had a busy week, and I am in the process of following up on this thread, that goes for my comment about Craig work as well.

Second, I don't know anything about "your bracelet".

Third, there's always room for opinions, specially when talking Vintage watches.

Fourth, I completely agree, that we are off topic, that we shouldn't be, but I don't agree that it's a "beautiful" watch, as IMO the hands completely spoils the allover look of it, if you can't see it, or feel otherwise, then no worries in my end.

well, reading a thread before commenting sometimes does make sense.
