Received my long sought after Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 8500 on Friday, and I am still drooling over the beauty and class this model offers. Initially I was interested in the 41mm model and preferred the grey dial, but after a trip to the AD the thin bezel had me thinking that 41 may be too large, and I ultimately like the black dial golf version better.

Having confirmed that the smaller 38.5mm version was probably best for my wrist size and seeing carlhaus' pics of his blue dial un-officiall "Skyfall" version I was confident that this will be the replacement to my sold Navitimer. I found a great deal on a gently used model with a warrant card dated April 2013, so tons of warranty left.

I am incredibly pleased with the build quality and fit! The watch has a substantial feel to it with the smaller size. One of the little things I noticed, and don't know if I was just lucky, but the Omega logo on the crown is perfectly aligned when the crown is fully screwed in. The blue dial takes on so many variations it is difficult to capture with cheap phone pics, but I attached several different lighting conditions in an attempt to show this.

All in all I can't imagine a better all around three hander. Omega got things right with this one

Great pictures! Will you ever switch it to a strap or will it always be on a bracelet?

Very nice. As an aside, I properly timed my new SMP for the first time yest and it had gained 5 seconds in a week. Very impressed.

Thank you all for the kind words. At first I was a little concerned that the mid-size would be too small or even considered feminine, as we know Breitling has a 38.5mm TO marketed to the ladies, but in the end I think the smaller version is a perfect fit, and will be much more versatile. Smaller is coming back IMO.

I will put a croc strap on it come fall but with 100 degree summers here in Texas leather needs to be reserved for cooler times of the year.

Indeed stunning. Congrats Thomas. It does look great. I could totally live with 38mm too as I've had smaller size watches in the past.
