Tough decision. Both are very nice looking. What do you personally like/dislike about each watch?

The hard decision continues:

The thing I like about the Omega is that its a classic watch, will never go out of style, has a significant history, I hope that it would last forever.

The think I like about the Breitling is its great looking, seems much sturdier than the omega, is more substantial. I am concerned that it will go out of style eventually.

I went to THE AD yesterday and I tried them on again. They were both outstanding. I also tried on the SUPEROCEAN CHRONO. Which is now in contention as well. The only thing that is holding me back from the brietlings is the fact that I think they will go out of style in a few years. I want this watch to be something i can wear forever. I am just not so sure that Breitling is the way to go.

if this is going to be your first luxury watch, ill go against the majority and say go with the speedmaster. you are correct in that the speedmaster is not going to go out of style, its an absolute classic. although frankly, i do not see a watch like the colt going out of style either. what may fall out of favor in a few years are the very large watches. the colt is reasonably sized. i wouldnt say the colt is any more sturdy than the speedmaster, its just chunkier and heavier. keep in mind what the speedmaster is famous for, its rock solid.

also, a traditional speedmaster is manual wind. they do of course make automatic versions, but i thought it might be worth mentioning as a factor in your decision. a traditional speedmaster also uses not a sapphire crystal, but a less scratch resistant, more shatter resistant compound. i forget exactly what its called. it scratches -very- easily compared to sapphire. again, you can opt to get one with a sapphire crystal, but its not what astronauts use if it matters to you.

I went to the AD yesterday and tried on both watches. I am still so torn between them. The omega overall looks perfect on me, but I am not so keep on the Manual winding.

The brietling is awsome looking as well. I really like the look. Just not so sure that i will in 10 years.

I can understand your dilemma. But I really think you should go for the watch you like today. Compromising on that will only make you disappointed. And, if you decide for "A" today and discover you actually want "B" in ten years time my opinion is that it is better to sell your A then and get a new or used B at that time.

if the speedmaster looks perfect, but you dont care for the manual winding, just get an automatic version :p theyre not as common so maybe youd need to go to a different AD. or, if youre not dead set on the classic speedmaster look, i know for sure the schumacher speedmasters are also automatic.

I really like the look of the classic speedmaster, just need to decide if the manual wind is the way to go. The Schumacher speedmasters look beat. and omega doesnt make a classic speedmaster auto, and i dont like the date/day-date ones.

classic mens watches generally do not exceed 40mm. 37mm is way, way too big for most any woman. i have a 42mm speedmaster myself but theres really nothing classic about that size.
