I'm curious about the absence of the "SWISS MADE" lettering on the face of the Chrono Avenger. Anyone have any idea why Breitling decided to leave this out? I don't know enough about Breitlings to know if this is specific to the CA or not, just noticed this on the CA.

Most Breitlings dont have it on the face. I dont think there is any particular reason, other than aesthetics.

Design choice is my guess.

Sometime you feel like a nut, sometime you don't ;)

Mario, you are right there, they simply don't want to put it on as a lot of the dials are cluttered enough!

I remember reading on a Rolex forum that they don't put it on as they Breitling don't have their own movements. Mind you, Breitling's always get bashed on Rolex forums!

 If that was true, Rolex would probably be the only maker in the world with "Swiss Made" on their watches! (OK, so that's not quite true, but a huge number of makers would have to remove the words from their watches  ).

It's one of those things you put on a face when there isn't much else to talk about.

It escapes me why any high-end brand need place things like that on a face and clutter it up.

Thats along the lines of what I was thinking. I guess if someone is familiar with the Breitling name then there's not really a point. Whereas Rolex is often the mainstream publics introduction to "high-end" watches and the swiss made text is a marketing tool that a buyer may look for. Just a thought...

on rolex forums theres a particular user (his name escapes me) who insists that parts of breitling watches are made in asia, and therefore theyre 'not allowed' to put swiss made on the face. nevermind the fact that breitlings usually -do- say swiss made (in french) on the buckles.

not sure where he gets off always posting that information without any proof whatsoever, but all it takes is a few seconds of logic to realize how ridiculous the assertion is. i mean you can walk into any department store and find watches for less than a few hundred with 'swiss made' written on the face.

This link has a good description of the requirements for anyone/any company to display the words "Swiss Made."

My profession mandates interfacing with the general public (unfortunately), and as a result, many "experts" pop out of the ground and feel their expertise must be known.

Had a guy about two years ago attempt to "caution" me about "watches like Breitling" that use Asian and "Frankenstein" movements. Incredulously, I looked at this four-foot-ten dope as he proceeded to "educate" me on his knowledge about how these types of pieces can be overpriced due to this amazing bank of facts.

On his wrist? Natch--some Tag from the mall.
