Just picked this one up. It dates to 1951 and has the 17 jewel Felsa 690 automatic inside. Not running but I have a spare movement and a new crystal should have it looking presentable (it comes with the original crown). I love this style of hands on some of the 1950's models. Ref number is 230/25 which I found an example of in the Richter book. Unusual to have the 'automatic' underneath the 'Breitling' on the dial.

Interesting. What are you going to do about the scratches on the case. I assume its base metal with a plating over the top? Leave it as it is, or have it resurfaced?

I don't have the watch in my hands yet. If the dial is as nice as I think it is I'll have the case rechromed. If the dial has aged I'll probably just polish up the case to retain some ageing. I'll really have to see when it arrives. I do prefer vintage watches that look vintage rather than brand new.

Great piece Paul, and have to agree on the sword style hands.

Amazing what a Cape Cod cloth can do. Just gave it a quick going over on the old crystal and case. Case is stainless steel so it should clean up nicely. Appears like the winding stem being broken is the only real problem. Will be sending out for a service tomorrow.

Just received back after a full overhaul, mainspring, new crystal, and hands relumed. Case did turn out to be plated so couldn't really polish. It's running fine and keeping excellent time. Dial has yellowed a bit from age but it gives it a warm, vintage, look which matches the case. Mounted the watch on a old nos military style strap.

Yeah that does look very nice. Strap suits it really well.
