Any first hand opinions on this watch? Looks like it might be my next one.

Yeah it's basically a chronomat evo with a new bezel and .3 mm bigger case.

Nothing wrong with the watch its a nice piece but you might be able to grab a new old stock evo for 1200 less

I agree, go with the actual evo. It looked better with the older bezel too in my opinion and you can probably get a better deal on it.

I do not think the case is really .3 mm larger, would not be too economic. I'm rather the opinion that already produced watch cases have a refreshed ideology by changing the bezel and the name.

maybe they are measuring a larger bezel width??

Evo's been on my mind but so has the Crosswind, its hard to choose between them then I saw this which is the best looking of the new watches I've seen imo. Decisions.... Thanks for responses.

Look at the Chrono Cockpit (=Chrono Galactic) too! With 39 mm this wears really superb! A blue dial version is just on my wrist as a type now...
The only watch that I'd prefer to this one is a blackeye blue dial Chronomat 41...
Best,
Robert

That is a fantastic watch and I think the 39mm is measured at the smallest possible point across. I have a 1994 Chronomat (which I think is the predecessor to the 39mm Chrono Cockpit) and aside from the cut outs between chrono pushers the watch is 40-40.5 mm diameter when I measured it.

Now why didn't they keep the Chronomat name, then add chronomat evo, then chronomat 44, chronomat b01 I have no clue. I think model stability is one reason why Rolex' have such good resale versus needing a flowchart to figure out a watch's history and future.

The only thing I didn't like in the Chronomats between 1984 and cca. 2004 is the horizontal lug shape, that changed in the Chronomat Evo and the matching Chrono Cockpit, with lug shapes more or less kept even today in the Chronomat 44 and 41. The Chrono Cockpit is a wonderful and often underevaluated model. Had it the weekday feature and screw-down pushers, it should be the perfect all-rounder. Now the Chronomat 41 (blue/black dial for me) has a still very nice size, a bit better waterresistance and screw-down pushers. Now only the weekday feature is to be displayed.
If dreaming may go on, a big date or a vertical date window, a fly-back feature and a balance bridge with some silicone escapement parts are also wanted...

I also like the looks, no problem with that (it was the Chronomat back in 1989 :) that pulled my attention to Breitling) but somehow those flat lugs did not fit my 6.75" wrist, while the Chrono Cockpit (very same size with curved-down lugs) has a wonderful fit.
