We asked if we could have one of these for the shop and we were told that they didn't think it would be a good idea to have it on public display.

I was a little bemused as to why they would display this in the Breitling hospitality suite with no intentions of using it elsewhere.

There was similar styled art work dotted about the Breitling exhibition unit and they all looked very cool, in my opinion.

That's interesting. Perhaps the marketing department isn't quite as dumb as I initially thought.

So it was the guy who sweeps the floor that created the poster, and marketing department saved the day? :D

Personally I'm glad Breitling seems to have been wise enough to not distribute this ad further, whilst tongue in cheek to me as an ad campaign it would cheapen the brand.

I think the pop-art style of the poster looks cool, but the wording (while maybe very tongue in cheek) does point to the fact that Breitling even see themselves as more of a fashion brand now rather than a maker of "instruments for professionals" these days. (Either that, or a parody of themselves!) Sure, we all know that 90% of people who historically bought Breitlings weren't (and aren't) pilots or aviation professionals, but actually coming out and basically saying "we make watches for try-hards" seems a little counter-productive IMO.

It certainly doesn't offend me in any way at all : I just find it a little odd. And if Breitling themselves think that this particular marketing move isn't for "public consumption", I'd have to question why they would use it at the world's premier watch show? :huh

Amusing.... but I have no issue with it personally.

If that poster came to my local store I'd sell my Breitlings in a hurry.

Not trying to put a damper on the party that Breitling threw but looking at the photos, the party theme probably went hand in hand with the poster :-)
Can't say for certain as I was not there but just the impression I'm getting ;-)

Actually the poster is very cool and eye catching...I think the only issue is that Breitling is trying too hard to attract every human being to their brand, that they fail to insist who they are.... A successful luxury brand always portrays the image that, "hey this is my style, like it or hate it"... Hope they will understand one day that they can never please everyone.
