So you get 40% off your Breitlings on a cash deal....

I bought my Airwolf at 40% off and still got zero percent for 24months. I'm doing even better with that money right now... :cheer:

You would NEVER get 40% off a SA where I live. NEVER. So, I'm cool with my dealio...It doesn't snow here..

Wow - wish I lived in your world - US dealer cost, plus 0% finance, never, ever wrong, getting an 8% no risk return on a small investment and it's 'cool' to use words like "dealio"

Yeah, I'm envious, real envious

I know a guy - looks like me, talks like me - who always has a few "loans" for in or around that amount floating about with better than 8% return. I, err HE would love to figure out a way to make those returns guaranteed.

That's the issue - one must always factor some risk of the investment into the algebra. And CGs or y tax.

But I just edited my Promissory Note template. It is now entitled - Dealio!!

I can get each and every one of you 15% return on a small initial investment. :strummin: :cheer:

Just don't ask for any statements, and you cannot cash out unless you have referred several friends, family and business associates.

Please make checks payable to my firm Carrol, Aaronson, Smith, & Harris. (feel free to abbreviate) :cigar:

I look forward to our future business together

I prefer my sarcasm to be more subtle, but I do understand that not everyone has that gift. :|

I honestly couldn't care less how any of you buy your watches. I was just putting out different viewpoint, not unlike a couple of other posters here who mentioned financing as an option as long as it was a zero percent deal and it made sense financially.

No one has an issue with alternate opinions, take five minutes to read any thread and you'll soon find that. What people take issue with is the tone of arrogance and superiority that you manage to put into every post that you make - whether intentional or not and the apparent need to 'one up' everyone constantly.

If someone doesnt have say 5 grand to spare for a watch but can easily make payments of £100 per month then whats the big deal?. If im talking to someone who has a nice watch im impressed by the watch and not by what means they used to pay for it, and with the 0% interest deals that you can choose to pay over the agreed period of credit and also make additional payments to clear the balance whenever you want then its actually a pretty good deal for a regular working man who likes to wear a nice watch. I personaly finance my watches, i would love to be able to just spend several thousands of pounds on material items but unfortunately im not rich, however I can easilly manage the repayments along with all my other outgoings and still have a pretty comfertable life

Nothing wrong with it per se, but its the typical consumer attitude that is responsible for so much of society's debt. A long time ago when I got my first credit card, my dad told me never to make a purchase on it unless I had that cash in hand. With the exception of a home mortgage, I think its great advice.

Dont get me wrong, if your walking around with a 5grand watch on and are struggling to pay bills thats a bit wrong but if you can easily make the repayments then why not? saves you having to fork out all that cash at once

If you can get a 0% finance deal and a discount off the retail, you would be silly NOT to take advantage of it.

Why dump out the cash for something that immediately loses it's value when you can invest that lump sum and make some money?

Let's say the watch is $5k after tax. You finance it for 0% for 24months. That's $209 per month.

Take the $5K you were going to put down on the watch and invest where you can get 8% return.

In two years you would have $5,872. So after two years you would own the watch free and clear and have $872.00 to help hedge the depreciation of the watch.

Or you can buy the watch cash because you don't believe in debt and have just the depricated watch.

The deal works when it's 0% interest, which is very common these days.

The tools are out there folks. Just a little discipline and an open mind and you'll come out ahead...

??????????

Good to hear someone that gets it. I have done 20 months same as cash on all my watches. Why drop 10k all at once when you can make payments and keep your cash making interest or ROI. As far as cars go I guess it just depends on the car, are we talking your daily driver or your exotic toy?

For the love of God, don't say "Beetlejuice" 3 times - he'll come back!! Let sleeping spirits lie. :poke:
