This has already been addressed in your other thread so I'm merging with that.

Sunshine and Cape Cod are polishing cloths - they polish. Microfibre cloths are fine for an occasional clean. Polishing a brand new watch is simply removing shiny metal to get at more shiny metal.

I'm sorry for going on and asking what seems to be the same questions in a round about way, I'm just trying to be 100% sure I understand what I'm doing as this watch is a lot of money for me.. It's a thing I've wanted for years. So are you saying I shouldn't use my sunshine cloth untill I start to notice scratches ? What you said is exactly what I was thinking when you said polishing a new watch is just wearing it down to reveal another shiny surface, that's what I do not want to do so that's why I'm asking if I shouldn't use it on my new unblemished watch. I will just go into my opticians and ask them for a really good microfibre cloth for everyday use

There is no need to polish a watch until it needs polishing and a new watch does not need polishing!!!

Ok ok calm down, I'm just looking for advice , I'm not actually looking to 'polish' my new watch, just the best thing to give it a wipe with before wearing it so I now know it is a microfibre cloth I need and not the sunshine cloth

The point is that a Sunshine cloth is a polishing cloth so using it will polish the watch whether you intend to or not.

Mate I only ordered that because that's what other forum users said to get. This is all new to me. My watch is brand new and I don't want to be using a cloth that wears the steel down unesesarilly. I suppose the term I'm looking for would be 'shine' cloth rather than 'polishing' cloth. Something that is completely non abrasive

Having the exact same watch - I can understand your concerns and being a little hasty with posts about protecting your baby - as a previous user stated, after the initial honeymoon period this will calm a little

I've ha mine just under 3 months- havnt worn it massively over the first few months but in the last few weeks I've worn it more and more and gently came to the realisation that no matter how much care is take, or how often you polish - the SA on bracelet almost attracts small swirls and scratches - almost all by itself.

I have not had the balls to go at it with a cape code yet as in all honesty the marks I have are so fine - impossible to notice unless clinically examining the watch - I'm going to hols off on cape code until things get a little more serious -

it's not to say you shouldnt care for your watch - as Believe me I do and use a soft microfibre to clean it up before it even braces my wrist :) - but my advice would be to relax, wear the watch - enjoy it and accept that scratches will appear - but they can all be fixed.

Yeah, I can accept that the scratches will appear and to fix that something like sunshine or cape cod can be used but all I was saying which maybe didnt come across to other forum members is I am just looking for a cloth for everyday wiping to get rid of smudges, fingerprints etc and give it a little shine up so its looking nice each time I wear it, so like you say the microfibre cloth is what I need for that. The sunshine cloth I ordered came yesterday but it will be kept tucked away in my drawer for a while before it gets used

That depends on the resolution that you use.
