Congrats on your wedding! As for a discount on Breitling, you are not likely to get anything around here. When you mention ADs, I can think of four: Christopher James and Tourneau in Waikiki and Macy's Jewel Gallery and Ben Bridge Timeworks in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Ben Bridge will likely not budge on the price. Tourneau might give you 5% off if you insist, but don't count on even that. Christopher James is a small shop which specializes in Rolex but sells some Breitlings, I've never tried getting a discount from them.

The only place that might offer a discount is Macy's Jewel Gallery, and only if you hit one of their special sales that include just about everything. In October you might just miss it, I think the Friends and Family sale is usually in November - at that time, they usually offer 20% (maybe 25%) off on Breitling. I may head to Ala Moana tomorrow, if I do I will check on when the next sale will be. It's no longer quite as compelling as it once was - at one time, Macy's used to "stack" their Friends and Family discount with an additional discount for opening a Macy's account. That might be 25% + 20% off the retail price. Macy's still offers a discount for opening an account, but they changed their policy a couple of years ago so that the discount is $100 max.

I purchased my Steelfish for under $1,700 at one of these sales, my plan was to buy a new Breitling every time my card was cancelled due to lack of use - that would have been about every 4 years (1 year to pay off the watch, 3 years for the card to "die"). Seemed like a good plan until they changed to the $100 maximum policy. Anyhow, I'll check and get back to you.

I'll be travelling from Australia where a soh 46 retail is around the 5.1k mark. Thought I would try my luck in Hawaii as I've seen the rrp is 4.2k and also thanks for your prompt reply

Cheers

With BUSA clamping down 20 - 25% is unlikely to happen again.

Yes.

Is this just BUSA or would I expect to see this in the UK, too?

BUSA are clamping down right now, but expect similar moves elsewhere soon enough.

If you live in the U.S. you should contact forum members/sponsors jnelson3097 (Govbergs) or FEAR (Provident), then you can skip the State tax.

Contact them to get the details, but Govbergs at least overnights to hotels (though not sure if overnight is practical for Hawaii).

I went to the mall yesterday and dropped by Macy's Jewel Gallery; Roff is correct, as usual

Macy's is currently having a sale, which includes Breitling, but they are only offering 10% off. The Friends and Family sale is usually the time when they offer a better discount, but the salesperson I work with told me that they don't expect more than 10% at that time either.

The salesperson mentioned that you could take advantage of a "visitor discount", which is 10%, but I don't know if that will be available when you arrive here. If you do end up going to Macy's Jewel Gallery at Ala Moana Shopping Center (not in the main store, but in the middle of the mall) see Rochelle and tell her that you discussed this with me. If the U.S. retail price is already lower than what you could get in Australia, then I guess another 10% off would be a bonus.

In any case, let us know what you got and how it turns out.

Thanks, what would not be practical about overnight to Hawaii?

Macy's sent me a friends & family card in the mail (expired today) for 25% off. The fine print specifically excludes Tag and Breitling.
