Hello,
I'm doing an 1806 restotation project. 4th one i've done so far. I have a thing for bringing back these well used aviators and to save hem from the parts cans.
I bought another 1806 badly damaged by corrosion and Im trying to bring it back.
These are the steps I've taken so far:
1) buy a watch at double what's worth (behind my girlfriend's back of course).
2) I started with the case and moving inside now (eye of the tiger playing in backgound).

I'm starting with the rusty movement now. Things look gloomy here. I was wondering if anybody has a Breitling Chrono-Matic Self-winding Chronograph calibre 11 Technical Instructions Manual that he wants to share?
I'd like to save as much as possible but need the manual. There is one for sale on ebay for $150.00. OUCH!!!!

I will post pics when time permits.

Thanks

Jerry

Better start looking for a spare movement. These do not take well to ANY rust.
Any cal 11/12 manual will do. Search Heuer also. Good luck!

I've sworn off the cal 11/12 projects because the parts are so difficult to find. Used to be you could pick up a donor movement from one of the many off brands that use these. The prices have gone from $300-$400 for a movement to now around $700-$800. Just too much of an investment to bring a Breitling back to life. The last really ugly and rusted Navitimer with a Cal 11 I saw on ebay, really nothing useable except the case, went for over $1K. Factor in the $700-$800 replacement movement, servicing it, and replacing any needed parts, it would have been more cost effective to just buy a good watch in the first place.

I know what you mean about cal 11/12 projects. The last rusty one I worked on was over a year ago and I had to buy about $400 worth of parts to make it right. That will be the last time I do that or most any other rusty project unless I have a spare movement.
Used to be able to buy fixers on ebay up until about 3 or 4 years ago that you could resell for a profit but not anymore - too much buyer competition. I have sold some of my own fixers in the past year for more than I would have thought they were worth given how much time and money it would take to make them run again.

Hello,

I got a full documentation incl. parts-table, exploded assembly drawing, but in German language. PN me if you like.

Best regards,
