Thank you everyone for your concerns! Just like Justin mentioned, this is what I heard from George when I contacted him earlier today. I sent back the straps to George today. He was extremely apologetic on behalf of Breitling and cooperative. He seemed to be taken aback by this situation as much as I was. I really don't know how this could happen, especially from BUSA. but I am glad that I will be getting my real, authentic straps! Thank you for all those that helped out! Especially Dr J and Justin.

Is it a fake or is it possible Breitling SA needs to look at QC with their strap vendor? I have to wonder if sometimes the wrong piece of soft leather gets glued/stitched on or if it isn't just stamped wrong. Either way, with the incorrect markings it has no $$ value at all.

This is the question that Jay, JNelson and myself have been discussing ever since Jay sent me the photos in response to my WTB thread.

Goes to show again how helpful BS is. My thanks for JNelson and the guys at Govberg's for helping Jay sort this out so quickly and above board.
Looking forward to a resolution, although I doubt we will ever find out exactly how it happened.

If this is coming from BUSA I suspect the supplier used the incorrect marking on the strap. Was it real crocodile or "croco-calf"?

That was my initial thought when Dr J first sent me the PM. The responses from BUSA were very brief and didn't offer any sort of explanation.

Besides the markings, it looks authentic. I think it's a QC issue also.

Breitling confirmed that the strap was mislabeled with the wrong backing and slipped through their quality control process. All parts of the strap were authentic.

Yup, there it is. There is no mistaking a gen Breitling croco even with the wrong backing. For now on I'll be checking the wording before I take the strap home.

At least they clarified the issue. That's a lot better than a fake strap getting into their distribution network. Still not right and that's something QC should catch, but at least it was authentic and they resolved and clarified the issue.

Perhaps Breitling should outsource QC to BS?

This bad boy could have been worth a lot of money one day.

You're assuming that it's rare.........

With all of BUSA resources focused on trying to catch ADs giving too large a discount I suspect that there are plenty of these around
