If you buy a used Breitling that has a signed/stamped warranty book with no date filled in can you put any date you wish in and will this be valid for warranty work?

That was the original intent behind ADs trying to 'help' consumers out by leaving the field blank. However, Breitling have records of sales and if they are suspicious then they will likely check their own records. Some sellers will advertise open papers as an advantage but it can actually be a source of a lot of arguments.

I'm no lawyer but I would also suspect that some jurisdictions would frown on what is effectively an attempt to obtain services by deception.

But that would be dishonest. Would it not?
I don't think it would take Breitling long to trace back and verify through the AD when the watch was actually sold if they suspected some kind of foul play.

I've had breitling ask for proof of sale even when a date was filled into the warranty booklet because the AD I guess never registered the watch sale so I have a feeling they may be getting a bit stricter with the warranty policy. I had it so it was no big deal to me. They are definitely trying to negate the practice of open dating with their new e-warranty thingy that is being implemented.

Agree with posts. That is theft of service if Breitling wants to make an example of you. You can afford a very expensive watch why are you trying to get something for nothing?

Thanks for your assumption. I see more and more sellers advertising an "open warranty book" as a selling point so I was simply wondering if that was really the case.
