Hello everyone, very new to the watch world. My watch needs a complete overhaul and crown fix. Any recommendations of best quality as well as most cost-friendly option. Also, is sending the watch directly to BUSA cheaper than going through an AD or maybe the opposite is true?

Send it to BUSA. It will cost the same regardless if you send it or if an AD sends it; although an AD may pick up the shipping charges for you which will save you $50 or so.

Depends on what needs to be done. For an overhaul then BUSA is the smart move. However, if it's something simple and you have a local authorized Breitling watchmaker then I'd take it to them. I was in Philadelphia for a week last month and Govberg was able to change the battery in my B1 for only $50 and I had the watch back in 3 days. Had I sent it to BUSA, they would have wanted to do a basic service for over $200 and kept my watch for at least a few weeks.

I had my Colt GMt completely serviced at Govberg last year. It was a quick turnaround and I was very pleased with the service.

I need a complete overhaul and a crown replacement for my 2005 colt automatic a17350. It has been in a box unmoved for about 7 years. BUSA or Govberg?

Also, The watch needs to be sent to me first from Boca Raton, FL to Jacksonville FL, about a 4 hour drive. Can fed ex overnight be trusted? i live in an apartment complex and don't want them just leaving it at my doorstep.

After being pleased with their service I asked Govberg if I should send my watch to them instead of BUSA next time I need an overhaul on one of my automatics. They told me that for major service they themselves send watches to BUSA. I should point out that this was the center city location. I think that they have a larger store in the suburbs, not sure how that Govberg handles repairs for Brietling.

The full overhaul should always be done through an official service centre rather than AD with watchmaker.

If youre worried about fedex leaving it there, make sure that the shipping party checks the box that requires a direct signature...meaning that somebody from your apartment unit has to sign for it. They cant leave it there and they cant allow any neighbors etc sign for it.

Can't you have it sent to your local FedEx place and held for pickup?
