koldee,

If you go back in the posts on this forum for the last year you will see many posts from a lot of guys that had a SIZE problem with Bentley's and Super Avengers that were WARNED that after they got something smaller they would end up wanting the Super Avenger or Bentley. The Super Avenger is definitely the biggest BANG for the buck in the Breitling line. If only 1 Ling is going to be the situation at least for a significant period of time then it would be essential to at least get one that qualifies for FULL LING status. As I said you can go back and read many stories here of how guy's ended up going back for the FULL LING a few weeks after choosing the smaller model initially. Hang on to your money, do yourself a favor and just get the FULL LING for the first LING. Or there is very strong likelihood that you will end up like so many others here that ended up back getting the FULL LING shortly after the first one that ended up being TOO SMALL ! Trust me when I tell you that once you get into LINGS it's going to be very hard to stick with just one anyway.

Good question. I agree that the super avenger can be a little extreme as an only watch, and it's one of the reasons I didn't choose it. At the time and it took me a long time to narrow my choices I finally went for a chrono avenger. That suited my lifestyle best, and it was an automatic and I wanted a chrono.

Do some research, but I would lean towards a watch you can wear daily and for multiple occasions and that is waterproof. my 2 c.

That being said, I thought I only would have one...now it's three

Ling Man's got a point. When I started lurking here ages ago, hardly anyone had a Super Avenger (Ling Man and Jerome are the only two I can remember). In fact I think there was a poll where the majority vited that the SA was too big. Now everyone seems to want one.

Having said that, I agree it's extreme for an only watch, and maybe not so many people would go for it if they were only allowed one. I don't think that would stop me, though.

wow....thanks guys for all the great advice!!

I think SA is abit too big for me...I have super small wrists...haha....

I went to check out the models at a few ADs. I like the Skyracer. Right now I'm thinking whether I should splurge on a full Ling or should I just get the more affordable Colt Automatic II. It's alot of money...at least to me ;)

It's a watch that you will be looking at long after you have forgotten the price - buy the one you want, not the cheapest (unless they are the same) - if you have to wait, then so be it.

Absolutely.

If its a lot of money to you, its even more important, because you will likely not be buying another one quite as soon, so get the one you want!!! And ponder over it for a while.. don't just buy it right away or you might end up with something you don't like.

Skyracer is a nice watch. I like mine.

I think the Skyracer would be a great choice. I love mine. As I wrote above, I tend to like more understated watches - the Skyracer is about as flashy as I'd like to go.

FYI, the Skyracer does not qualify as a Full Ling. Ling Man has deemed the Skyracer on bracelet a 3/4 Ling. You need 24mm lug width for a Full Ling. Skyracer is 22mm. Definitely more Ling than the Colt though.
