I like Brooks Brother's ties also but I do not like their narrow ties; I prefer their wider ties. They make a high quality tie but I do not believe they have a 7 fold tie; well not that I've seen. I also love their dress shirts; high quality and not overly expensive.

We have BB in Toronto now so will have to go take a look. I tend to go made to measure with dress shirts these days, there are some really good online suppliers once you have reliable measurements and a couple of local shirtmakers that can match or beat brand name off the rack pricing.

I've worn ties every working day for 15 years. I have owned Thomas Pink, Armani, Brooks Bros, you name it. I'm a taller guy so I have to be very selective of a quality tie that is nicely woven, thick enough throughout to make a nice windsor knot, yet lengthy enough to hit my belt buckle just right. Thumbing through GQ a few years back, they suggested The Tie Bar as an affordable but high quality alternative. I gave them a try and at a measly $25 each, they are easily as good as a $200 Zegna.

Not looking for bow ties right now.

I've actually picked up a few this past weekend from some of the recommended eBay sellers - Zegna, Brioni, Stefano Ricci, Kiton, Piattelli, Fratelli, Cremieux, Robert Talbott and a couple of Leonards for when I am feeling a little more bold. Paid less than half what I would end up paying in Toronto, and picked up some brands that I just wouldn't find in Toronto so very pleased.

I wear either a white or blue shirt with a blue, college shield or stripe tie. For slightly less formal ocassions, a dark grey, silk-knitted tie.
