Hi all,
I inherited a Breitling that I'd like to sell it, but I don't know what I have. I've had it serviced and the technician verified its real, but I would like to double check and get an idea of its value. I've heard that Breitling confiscate any watches if they believe its fake, so I don't want to take the risk unless I'm a bit closer to sure of what it is.

Breitling Chronomat Automatic
A13050.1 3018
1

White dial
Stainless Steele case
aftermarket white leather strap

Luminescent Arabic numerals and hands
Chronograph with subdials at the 6, 9, 12
Date window at the 3
Rotating bezel
screw down crown
Tachymetre

I can feel a rotating balance wheel inside.

Can anyone help me identify when and what this is? Should I have it appraised?
Any advise and I will be  eternally grateful.
Dru

Post pictures of the watch, its hard to identify or verify authenticity without any pictures.

Yep, get some good shots of the watch and perhaps, if you can, a shot of the movement. That always helps.

:uselesspics:

Well, I would not go that far, but it does help ID a watch if it has a good shot posted here.

Yep, post us some decent quality pictures and it'll be a really swift task to determine if it's a fake or not.

The watch you have is called a Chronomat and the model ref is A13050.1 which dates it from the late 1990s. There are hundreds of dial variations of this watch and fakes of this model do exist so you'll need to post some pics to get confirmation it's real.

Here are the pics of the front and back view. Its taken with my cell, so the quality is not that great. Not sure how to get a closer shot without losing the details. I did spot the Breaitlin B logo on the side of the bezel between the 11 and 12.

Note that the strap is an after market leather... just just ignore that.

Chronomat Vitesse.. that's great! Thank you.
Now that I'm more confident on its authenticity... what should I do now?
Should I send it in to Breitling? Should I have it appraised? Where should I sell it? Will Breitling send me docs for it since I have none?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really excited about having a fine timepiece in my possession. :cheer:

If you are going to sell it then there is no point in paying for a service because you won't get your money back, just disclose to a potential buyer that it has been serviced by an unauthorised watchmaker - unfortunately that is going to hurt its value because it now has non Breitling parts in it which may well cost more in the long run.

I wouldn't worry about papers on a piece this old, and in terms of appraisal your best bet is to look at sold items on eBay to see what they are selling for. Chrono24 can also provide an indication of dealer asking prices (seling prices will likely be lower) and then adjust for the problems. In terms of where to sell, eBay is the obvious but the forums, including this one, have sales sections as well, just be sure to check the rules for selling at each one before posting.
