Hi,

Another cadette here, wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it's authenticity:

currently awaiting more photo's from the auction house, but they state:

'CIRCA 1940s, D: Silver dial with applied gilt Arabic numerals, double register recording seconds & minutes. M: Manual wind movement signed Breitling. C: Circular case, signed Breitling Watch Ltd & numbered, case diameter approx 35mm S: Black leather strap.'

What do you reckon? The minute recorder hand looks wrong to me....

Cheers for your help!

Would like to see the other photos, but I'm a bit dubious. The dial looks a little small for the case and while the Breitling script doesn't look too bad it doesn't look to be the same age as the dial. Hands aren't automatically an issue because they could be changed during servicing, but let's see the other photos.

So, the auction house sent me some more photo's today:

What do you think? The dial looks a bit better ('Swiss Made' seems nearly out of view, like it should?)
The crown looks the wrong shade, and should it not have the Breitling 'B' on it?
Is the signature on the movement correct for the period?

Sorry for or the questions, but i'm quite tempted to purchase this watch. It's up for sale at a reputable watch auction house, rather than ebay, if that helps!

Cheers
Sean

case and movement - including the markings - are correct for an early 50s ref. 1188

Incase anyones interested, this watch sold on Saturday for £420 (plus 20-25% auction fees) to an online bidder.

Unfortunately I was pipped at the very last second, and decided i'd wait for another!!
