Does this "extra wide" bezel look right? Looks strange and the index ring doesn't seem to fit properly.

Doesn't look right to me. Outer sliderule also looks wrong.

Ok, I checked your web site and saw a couple more under 3rd generation. I haven't seen any previous mention of this bezel anywhere and it seems to be another example with a different bead count. Are these a rare bezel?

very, very rare, Paul - only saw them on very early 809s, never on 806s, but Kurt will hopefully chime in.

as far as I am aware only in 62 (maybe early 63?)

there were 4 809 models if i recall correctly

all black w/ wide beads bezel
all black w/ normal beads bezel
white sub dials w/ wide beads bezel
white sub dials w/ normal beads bezel

I never found enough info to date them exactly in chronological order based on serials

Thanks guys. Learn something new everyday. I was get a little dizzy counting the bezel beads but it was either 99 or 100.

The wide bezel was only on black / white and all black Cosmonautes (24 hour dial Navitimers) in 1962.
