I couldn't help but think of a new Emergency model while reading Mark Kelley's interview here....viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4398

"Mark pointed out an interesting feature he'd like to see on an astronaut watch. He wants to have timers and alarms that are based not on the local or current time, but on the mission time. This would allow you to start a chronograph-like feature at the start of the mission, and then set certain other timing functions based on that elapsed time. He was actually quick to point out the features his 'ultimate mission watch' would have. Those special timers, multiple time zones, and alarms up the gad-zoo. I can imagine all the pushers it would have"

Umm. You do know why they are switching from 121.5 to 406, right?

Sorry, no I don't. But I would like to know.

Many topics on it here and on the internet at large. Satellite monitoring of the 121.5 MHz frequency has been discontinued as the aviation world moves to 406. However, in anything other than perfect circumstances the Emergency transmitter isn't strong enough to be monitored by satellites anyway.

Thanks everybody. Just before the holidays there was some word going around that the new Breitling Emergency (406 MHz) is far enough along that a Breitling VP is wearing a prototype these days. (Which if true, might mean there are mock-ups or other images out there?) In any event: Anyone heard any Breitling or other industry reports out there, either about a new 406 MHz Emergency at Basel -- or about 2013 vs. 2014?

Catalogue is based on 2012 releases so it wouldn't be in that. There's still no official word, my personal guess is 2014 but don't have hard evidence to back that up.
