It was back in 1992 when my best friend's brother graduated from West Point. He joined the Army and received a signing bonus. He put a large down payment on a Mustang Cobra and took me and his brother to Bailey Banks & Biddle. He bought an aerospace. I was hooked. When I think of Breitling, that is the watch I think of. I finally got my first Breitling about 7 months ago.

The aerospace is still on my wish list. .

Johnny come lately here. I was watching Blood Diamond on HBO in 2009 and became fascinated with a watch I learned the next day was a Chrono Avenger. Two days later I walked out of Hyde Park Jewelers wearing a shiny new Avenger Skyland. Until that day I was wearing a $250 Luminox. Since then it has been a wild, exhilarating and at times painful fascination. Coincidently, I find my favorite watch looks very much like Wes' Chronomat.

For me it Aerospace on the back of Combat Aircrafts magazine may be in 1994. Long years passed and finally in spring of 2011 i was in a position to pull the trigger. After lots of research settled on big date BB. Looked even more awesome physically than in pictures. With a black croco strap now it is my daily use watch. Rolex submariener is next on the list, may be.

I remember spending time waiting on a busy Leeds street for my partner who had obviously lost track of time whilst doing some serious shopping. This was back in 2006 and I was sporting an Ecodrive which I was quite content with but I caught sight of Goldsmiths shop window and wandered over. I looked at the shiny Lings and my eye was drawn to black faced CSO on a pro I bracelet. Still no sign of my good lady so I went into the shop and asked if I could have a closer look at the CSO. Coffee was quickly supplied and the saleswoman really made an impression with her knowledge of the watch. It was just my kind of piece not a 'jewellery' watch , chrono functions, understated but nice and heavy and so obviously well made. Sadly I didn't have the funds to even buy the bracelet but I never forgot that watch. In February 2012 I saw what seemed be a nice identical one on that auction site and made a last second bid and won it. As soon as it arrived I inspected it carefully. It was tired looking and grubby and I was a little disheartened. But everything worked fine so I checked all the paperwork and it was all correct. The next day I took it to an AD to arrange a full overhaul. When it came back I was astonished, just like new. It's still my favourite and today I gave it a good going over with the Cape Cod. It's one piece I will never sell.

I became exposed to them at my dealership. A guy used to stop in once a month and sell really nice fakes to the sales guys. I liked what I saw and made sure to put a real one on my wrist when the time was right. In 2011 I bought my Rolex Sub C. And in December 2012 my Christmas gift from my boss was a new Superocean 44. Love the brand.

What an outstanding thread. Excellent stories everyone.

For me, I was shopping for my wife's engagment ring and came across a display for Breitling. Little did I know it was the only AD in my state. I was never into watches, but couldn't help to be taken aback by the beauty that was the Navitimer. I told the AD I would be back to get one at some point.

After purchasing an incredibly expensive ring and marry my wife I mentioned the watch. For years it has been on my gift list and I honeslty didnt think it would happen.

On our 5th anniversay she surprised me with a Super Avenger. I was shocked. I ended up trading it in for a Montbrillant 47 which I love. I am going to end up grtting the super anvengef as well, since I am now hooked.

Honestly Breitling watches are the only brand that I even care about. You can have the rest, there is nothing like a Breitling In my opinion.

Glad to be part of the club.

Cheers

It was the name steelfish that brought my attention to Breitilng, and when I saw the watch I fell in love with it. In March 2011 I had an endowment policy mature, which meant I had enough money to by one from an AD in Birmingham. It’s not been off my wrist since.

After graduating from High School in 2001 my father took me on one of his business trips to Asia for 2 weeks. While in Hong Kong I wanted to get a fake Rolex to show off to my friends. We went down to the street shops and after looking through numerous replica-filled suitcases I found myself drawn to the Breitlings. I purchased a blue dial Breitling Crosswind 40mm (I think) and have loved them since. Have no fear, I socked it away shortly after. I didn't like wearing a knock-off.

Fast forward to 2006, I nearly purchased a Chronomat Evolution brand new for $3750 OTD in San Antonio (40%ish off list) but couldn't get myself to plop down the money. A few years later I purchased a Navitimer from a friend and sold it after a year. I've been wanting the Chronomat Evolution ever since. I just purchased one last night, pre-owned and serviced for $2750. The guy was originally asking $3500. I love the B01 but it's not a $10k watch to me. It's a $5-6k watch, new. I still plan on purchasing a B01 in the future along with a larger Navitimer. 40mm and under is too small for a man of my size.

I was in Key West in the mid '90's and saw a 2 tone Chronomat with a blue dial and lusted after that watch until I finally bought one in 2000. I now own 4, but that first one is still my favorite.

Sitting beside a guy in a Majorcan bar I noticed the breitling on his wrist.Got talking and he opened up the breitling world.when I turned 50 last year just had to buy one so after quite a bit of research bought an A17360 on eBay.to say I'm delighted is an understatement.wear it every day.we always leave Ireland for Majorca in the summer so if I meet the fella again I owe him a free beer

Broken Arrow did it for me. This quick 2 second shot of Breitling's product placement proves advertising in movies works! While it's starting to look it's age against what is out now, I'm still only inches closer to getting it.

i do remember, when i was about 14 years old, a classmate was the son of a watch dealer, including breitling...
i did not pay much attention back then and then got offered a quite nice omega automatic when i was 16.

i always liked watches, but got (mostly presents) a couple of swatches, etc.

only after a while in the aviation world did i get a nice festina (the best i could afford back then) when working in bahrain...

to celebrate 20 years in aviation, i decided to treat myself to a really cool watch... a breitling navitimer world!

i guess it really is the aviation virus that got me into this...

cheers,
pg

For me, I was 18 and a freshman in college. There was this really arrogant guy that We were all friends with, although honestly I could never really stand his personality. This was back in 2002, before bigger watches were so prevalent, and this guy had a big chunky Breitling chronograph, although I had no appreciation for what that meant. The only expensive watch I'd heard of was rolex. It was pretty obvious that his parents had just bought him the watch, because typically college freshmen don't have that kind of money to spend on watches. From the moment I saw it, I knew I had to have one. I also knew it was something I wanted to buy for myself, as opposed to begging my parents. I finished college, and went to law school. Finally, last month, after more than a decade, I was finally able to buy myself a chrono evo from a member of this site.
