in all fairness, the vast majority of people in the world have no idea what a tourbillon is, nor would they be particularly impressed even if you explained it to them. theres no more blunt and vulgar way to display your disposable income than diamonds however. opinions on taste aside, they do what theyre supposed to do :P

For years now I've been trying to figure out exactly what a tourbillon is -- and I still don't get it. (I'm showing my horological ignorance, I know! But that's okay; I can live with the stigma.) All I know is that it's an extremely complicated -- and expensive! -- way of doing something not all that necessary.

Frankly, I don't know which is the most vulgar way of showing one's wealth -- diamonds or unnecessary complications. Since I'll never have either, it's really a moot point. I don't know why I'm even talking about this. I think I'll go watch Olympic Swimming -- Let's go Katie! :D

I know you were joking, and so was I. Dont take me too serious either, I am, as you, only serious when it comes to the actual true topic here - BREITLING.

I missed that latest gem from Mr Drax!

If you're not careful you'll be biting your tongue off if you leave it in your cheek any longer!

Amusing posts!

I've always wanted to visit Sweden, my friend. It's nice to know you guys
have a silly side, too. Someday, someday, I may actually make the trip, with
Breitling on wrist (but which one, which one? Oh, these decisions!) :)

I look forward to many interesting chats with you in the future. So, skoal.
(I have no idea how to spell that word; a rare admission from a retired
English teacher.) :?

My dear Driver,

If we were ever to speak face to face, you would learn I have a decided
lisp -- yes, the result of biting off my tongue years ago. So now I
have to make do with a stub -- but I can still push it into my cheek far
enough to continue my silly assault on everything logical.

Have a great day. For myself, I'm going back to watching the Olympics: Tennis
will start soon, and I hope poor old Roger Federer can stoke
those fires in his belly and start winning again! We shall see.

Jeez, did anyone read the weight of this thing? 225 grams...that's like an anvil!

I don't get this watch. Did Breitling do this, or was it modified later? It would seem by looking at the watch that Breitling would have had to do the bezel and case work...but the description says "after-market diamonds"...and it just doesn't look like something Breitling would do. Not only are there too many diamonds, they are of mediocre clarity and color (an H diamond set in white gold will show yellow in certain lighting...if you want bright white 100% of the time you should stay at a G or better). Additionally, when you look at the back side of this watch, the bracelet doesn't fit perfectly into the lugs....and from the side the band setting looks like nothing more than several tennis bracelet mounts joined together. Not to mention, the combination of the diamonds and the face is so ill concieved, it's uncomfortable to look at from an esthetic standpoint...like a beautiful painting in a really bad frame. Yuck.

Someone please tell me that Breitling didn't create this thing.

Breitling created the watch only. :)

If you decide to come, you're more than welcome to south of Sweden too... But you have to come before November, after November it'll be Tokyo for a few years. ;)

Skål is a bit tricky to write if you miss the "å"... I guess "skaal" also works. :)

I read it -- twice. Bulletin: I shall continue to live in blissful ignorance
of that devilish contraption. I guess you just can't teach (this) old dog
new tricks :?

Thanks for your concern.

Aleister and hnb,

Thank you, gentlemen, for your kind invitations. If I ever
get all my debts paid off and can save a few kronas (which would
mean having to stop buying watches -- ) I may indeed pay your
lovely country a visit.

I'd invite you to visit Michigan, but I'm afraid you'd be disappointed.
Our state bird is the mosquito (ouch!) and most of our free time
is spent either shoveling snow or mowing lawns

BUT we do have a couple nice Breitling dealers, and that makes
living in this dreary state almost worth it all :)

Aleister, you said you're heading to Japan for a few years? That's
one hell of a commute! None of my business, of course, but
is such a major move job-related or just ... a change of scenery?

Anyway, have a great day, guys.

Steve

Very stylish piece...

First thing I thought when I saw it was "why is Floyd Mayweather selling his watch?"

That's a terrible waste of Diamonds and a Perfectly nice Breitling. The diamonds should be used for something else, like a nice set of Grillz, and the Bentley should be left alone ;)
