Hello

I have been looking and planning to go for my second Breitling.
http://www.authenticwatches.com/breitli ... SKX1R3inrI

But I'm bit confused! Is this model not in production any more or why they are offering 50% discounts ?

The Evo is a discontinued model and wouldn't be surprised if that had been sitting in stock for a while because of the gold / diamonds. Additionally, it may be 50% off of current list, but it won't be 50% off of the list price when the grey marketeer bought it from the AD. That watch could easily be 5 or more years old and of course with grey market there is no warranty.

So would it be wiser to stay away from authenticwatches.com ? Are the most of watches old and with no warranty? Actually I like Evo design. Will it loose value faster as it's discontinued?

Thank you!

I think what Roff might be saying is that you would be better off dealing with an AD rather than the grey market. No warrantee this way you see, and all the guarantees in the world can't make up for the fact the seller is a long way away from you. No disrespect to the seller though. It’s a chance you will get a good seller, but you can also end up with one that’s less so and it mares your buying experience if a warrantee claim is at issue. EBay policy or not, it makes little difference if the seller won't co-operate easily and effectively with you. The last thing you want is to be waiting, waiting, waiting for repairs, etc.

An AD might have a good deals on this model and they must stand by the factory warrantee and levels of service expected of an Authorised Dealer. Good insurance for any buyer and at this price its also piece of mind. You have to weigh up 50% off against this.

Its also a matter of personal taste, and that’s how I see it. So each to there own on this particular design. If you like it, buy it, but........... Forgive me if I say that it’s not one that I would think immediately leaps off the shelf at the first sign of a buyer. It would appeal to a select few only and that’s probably why it’s been on the shelf for a while.

If you broaden your search, why not try a more conventional model in the Chronomat Evolution range? The designers of this watch probably never expected to see it produced with diamonds in the bezel, as its such a beautiful watch in its standard form. It has presence, class and gravitas without being overly decorated. All the hallmarks of a considered and tasteful design process. The impact of the design will be immediate on your wrist and you will leave admirers convinced it’s one of the best watches in the world. All without saying it loudly. That guarrantees a better sale later on and, no doubt, more interest.

Up to you though.

Not all AuthenticWatches pieces are old, but this one clearly is. Grey market is a gamble - many, many threads on here about it and you will not get a Breitling warranty because they are not an authorised dealer.

Value isn't going to drop any more than any other model, especially with a big discount up front, but diamonds make it a niche piece which may make it harder to sell. You also need to consider the cost of a service because if it doesn't need one now it is going to within a couple of years.

Thank you guys for reply and advise! I'm looking for steel/gold brown leather strap Breitling. Size starting from 43 mm. Must say the the diamonds are too much for me as well but the price seemed so good :D . Gold bezel is fully enough! What would be you suggestion in $5000- $6000 price range?

Thank you in advance!

That's personal choice. Go and try some on and then contact one of the site sponsor ADs for some good pricing.

That's a current model. However, even less reason not to buy that from an AD - it has an in house movement which comes with a 5 year Breitling warranty when bought from an AD, not a worthless 3 year Authentic Watches guarantee.

just checked my dealers offerings and discounts ... and you were right! current models have almost as good prices as authenticwatches offers! No problems with customs and etc.
Do I have to worry about high end watch reliability? Does the situation gets problematic after the warranty is over?

Not as long as the watch is serviced every 5 - 7 years. However, these are mechanical instruments so problems can occur and the peace of mind of a warranty is invaluable. There have been reports of problems with the relatively new in house B01 movement, but also many satisfied owners.

I just looked at a Chronomat Evo in stainless with gold on the push pieces, crown and rider tabs. The face was burgundy with a burgundy strap. My immediate thought was, what a beautiful watch. Must be one of the best versions I have yet seen. Not sure if they are rare or easily available, but its got to be one of the best versions out there. Stunning.

A friendly reminder that to maintain the 5 year Breitling warranty, Breitling needs to inspect the watch at the 2 and 4 year period.
