Hello all

I purchased a SOH 46 from an AD here in the UK, it arrived on Tuesday night (delivered to work as I am working shifts) It looks great, I was well impressed by the build quality as well as the service provided by the AD. The time wasn't set correctly so I set it against an NTP satellite receiver, and compared it against my only other Breitling, an Aerospace bought in January this year, both showed the same time. (NTP satellite receivers are used extensively where I work)

Anyhow, last night I checked it against the NTP receiver again, and it was running 15 seconds fast which I thought was odd. I checked it against a few other NTP receivers, showed exactly the same. Then checked it against a couple of internet time servers, still 15 seconds fast. So I reset it again at 0200 this morning, by 0700 it was a couple of seconds fast. Clearly not in spec? Date code shows it from week 46 of 2011

I spoke to the AD who asked me to send it back so they could "check it out"

My question, is this common with newer Breitlings, or did I just get one built on Monday morning/Friday afternoon?

All the best

Jerry

It doesn't sound like an issue to me.

It's a mechanical watch so certified to be accurate to -4 / +6 seconds per day and it sounds like yours is achieving that - 15 seconds in 3 days. Additionally, it's going to take a few weeks to settle and until it does it will likely run a little faster - it's adjusting to running 24 / 7 vs. sitting in an AD's display case. If you leave the watch on its back at night then try laying it on its side crown up as that will tend to make it run a little slower. The 2 seconds in 5 hours I would discount for now as it's not a long enough period of time to provide accurate results.

It's a mechanical watch so isn't going to be as accurate as an SQ movement.

My old man still moans about his Rolex Sub, being a bit slow after a week, this is the guy who for some unknown reason manages to get the bezel stuck, i have to free it clean it and give it a light polish about every three months, the guy's 85 and collect's dust, bless him. it still looks like new after i have finished, but he's still dusty.

It's a new watch. Give it a month to settle.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess I had been spoiled by the accuracy of the Aerospace.

I should point out that although bought as a new watch, it was manufactured over a year ago, and the AD ordered the watch direct from Breitling because of the dial, bezel and strap combination I wanted (an assumption, I will admit) I have stuck it on the watch winder for the moment, and will check it again in a few days.

Can I ask what is the oldest watch you bought as new going off of the manufacturers date code? Not counting the ones advertised as old stock, new issue.

I purchased my Chrono Evolution in 2010 - just under 2 years after it was manufactured.

A year or two from manufacture to sale is typical.

Understand that you are comparing it to one of the most accurate watches on earth. Also realize that not even a $200,000 Patek Philippe tourbillon can even come close to the Aerospace's accuracy.

Having said that, if its outside of the -4 +6 seconds a day specs, send it back and get it sorted.

I bought a new Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 35th Anniversary Limited Edition in May last year.
Given that the 35th anniversary of Apollo 11 moon landing was in 2004, that made it about 8 year old NOS.
I don't think there are too many of these kicking about with the new watch warranty dated 2012.
Initially the watch was about 20s a day out and I was considering to send it to Omega as it is COSC certified and to see if I could get a free service out of them but the watch seems to have settled eventually on about 5 sec.
