Hi! Came across this interesting 8 day Doxa. Have never seen this one before and no amount of googling have me any results. Has anyone come across this watch before? Or is this a fake? Help please!

Yes, well........ What can one say! I have seen a few Doxas in my time but nothing like this. Perhaps I have lived a sheltered life. :o

Nice piece in many ways though.

You are correct, in that there does not seem to be any info out there. You need a Doxa expert or some real poking of the seller to get confident with this one I think. :poke:

Its unusual for a Doxa, in that its not very decorated. In some ways it seems fairly plain and too simple for the makers usual flare, given the potential age. It is different and reminds me of a Formex (square case, round watch dial). The strap is the 'look at me' aspect to this one. Take that away and its very ordinary. Most unusual though.

Heh! Heh!

It did look strange, but I could not give up on an outside chance that this was something special!!

See the post below-

I am still awaiting some more posts from other forum members.

I've heard the story before and no reason to doubt it. The link that Doxa posted on WUS seems to be dead, and I'm not sure what they are supposed to look like, but this looks more like an aircraft clock on a strap to me.

Roff, perhaps I didn't post properly. Reposting.

http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=567216

I have won the auction and already Paypalled for it.
The seller specializes in estate sales and she said she bought this a few years back in a box with knives, coins and other stuff and isn't sure of the ownership and details of the watch.

I am in chats with her to send me some pics of the caseback and possibly movement before she ships it. She said she will try to open without damaging the watch. Lets see how that goes.

Saw the WUS thread, but couldn't get the link in the first post of that thread to work - the one that references the book, presumably with pictures of what they should look like.

I think thats a great way to explain it to anyone. A cockpit instrument. Screws in case front look a tad crude, but there is something compelling about this one. Perhaps its the simplicity.

Mercury2wo, please send more pics later if you can.

It did seem compelling! I thought I was also getting a great deal - Doxa 8 Day - Undiscovered - Rare all for about 145 bucks!

But the story as it finally unfolded - (Am having difficult uploading pics, so I am enclosing a link to the WUS thread I did "full circle" on.

Is This for Real? DOXA 8 Day Watch
http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=818716

The watch will relist soon with full disclosure for 9.99 no reserve again on eBay soon!!
