Hello everyone

Just a few pictures of hand turning this week on the Horia lathe. I am just starting hand turning soon we have an exam on making winding stems so this week its been a lot of practice on the lathe. Then in a coupe of months we make pivot gauges and then we make balance staffs. And a picture of my Breitling for bentley.
thanks :) :)

Nice lathe Joe, puts my 60 year old watchmaker's lathe to shame. Glad to see with all of the different tools available today there is still a focus on hand turning (even if you never end up using it in real life).

Thank you and the lathe is so fascinating for me to see how it can just take small amounts of materiel of. And yes this school is very good because he believes in old and modern techniques so we use the lathe a lot and this is very good. Hopefully for my school project I will be making a hand made tour-billion cage with balance and everything all on the jig boar and the lathe and hand finishing as well this will hopefully be started around may time. And like you said even if I never use it is very important to learn. Thanks

Unless he starts his own 100% handmade (and hand turned) watch company on graduation! :D

Nice update Joe - keep 'em coming as it's great to see the business end of the watch industry from the inside.
