I have an Emergency with UTC of a limited Edition (Austrian Airforce, only 5 pcs made, but built in 2003). I only sometimes use it when flying, but most of the time, I forgot to put it on. As the new model will probably be presented in Basel, I am thinking of selling the old one. Should I sell it now, or should I wait and have a look at the new one first?

I'm confused. Do you want to sell this after viewing the new version because,
a. You want to judge the market price for this one, or
b. You might be tempted to buy the newer model.

Is this correct?

If so, I would just sell it if you need to, and don't repalce it with a newer Emergency model.

Or, keep it and wear this one a little more. Its a great watch on the ground or in the air and you might regret selling it just through lack of use in the air.

Thomas,

Given your status I'm pretty sure that you are going to be able to pick up a new one whenever you want. Given the uncertainty around the new model I would wait until you see it, can place orders for it, etc and then decide. With the current Breitling design aesthethic there's no telling what the new one will look like!

If it were me, and assuming my wrist could handle it's size (which it can't but...), I would keep it. It's a darn nice looking dial and unique!

1 of 5...now THAT'S a limited edition.

If the watch doesn't do it for you anymore, it would make sense to sell. I've sold some great watches because my needs or tastes had changed. However, I agree with Roff that I wouldn't bank on the looks of a new Emergency offering until I saw it in the metal. If you still want to have an Emergency, that's a great one.

I think if you decided to sell it, you'd get more offers for just the UTC. While its great having a LE of 5, I also think it limits your market, especially with the logo on the dial. I guess since you do own a store in Austria, it'll help and maybe you'd get lucky that a former member of the air force walks in and falls in love with it.

Roff

You are correct! My eyes aren't what they used to be.

Cheers!

Based on what Breitling has put out the past few years, I'm not expecting much from the new one. Keep it.
