new to the board so my apologies is this topic has already been covered. Im looking for my first Breitling, preferably a Super Avenger for my wedding present coming up in March. Ive been looking around from jewelers to pawn shops to Ebay and of all places finding the widest selection on Ebay. Anyone ever bought off eBay? Thoughts? Pro's/Cons? I'm always making sure watches have papers etc...anything else?

thanks
JD

Yes, no issues. But, like the advice always goes, buy the seller, then the watch.

Have bought a few high end watches on eBay, no problems definately agree with what SRACER said.

Agree with Sracer too.

EBay is just like a micro version of real life. You find some good and some not so good to deal with. I have had nothing but first rate experiences with Ebay sellers generally. Some have been OK on some aspects, some a little cheekie, but some have been the best sellers anywhere I could have ever hoped for.

Its just people.

:yeahthat Also make sure you run it by people on BS before you bid. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to fakes.

I bought my first Breitling off E-Bay before I found this site. I almost bought a similar watch ($700 less no box or any papers) and was going to make a trip to Miami (from Fort Myers) to view it. But I called the owner in California (more expensive Breitling) and we talked for over 30 minutes and I viewed all of his 700+ 100% positive feedback and decided to spend the additional money. I was holding my breath until it arrived and was very relieved. Checking out the seller is most important. The gray market watches were a temptation but there is something special about knowing you have a full Breitling factory warranty. Also with the Forum sponsors giving me better pricing than my local shops, I will support them when possible. It seems like the Buy/Sell area here is another way to get authentic Breitlings.

If I go grey I prefer to stick to a large dealer like Jomashop. I bought a Tag years ago from them, and recently a Seawolf, and both transaction were fine. They give their own warranty and not the Breitling paperwork which I was not really happy about, but the watch was great and I have no intention to sell, so I guess that's the price you pay for getting a discount.

I bought my SOH Chrono on ebay about 6 weeks ago. The pucker-factor was high as I Paypal'd $3K into the void. and then waited...

Ultimately you are gambling a bit but my communication with the seller helped me take the leap.

Bought these three watches from the bay. You have to do your due diligence on the seller, but it can work out well.
