I've seen the retail on an Avenger with bracelet in the US and from an AD at $5490. I'm trying to understand what a fair price would be. It would be helpful to understand what kind of margin an AD would mark up based on retail. Any guidance on a fair but good price would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've seen prices increase and discounts decrease over the past 3 or 4 years. Dealers margins are getting squeezed tighter at every price increase. People boast of 30%+ discounts from their local dealer but I have never received that. My local dealer, whom I've purchased 3 watches from is usually about 20% and no tax, which is about a few hundred more then gray market(depending on the watch). I think if you can get there or better, it's a good price. I would rather pay a little more to my local dealer. At the end of the day if you love the watch, just getting some sort of discount off of MSRP is a win.

30% was definitely doable in the past. Many of us were able to get that fairly easily. Now, now so much. 20%+ is about right at the moment.

The days of 30% are pretty much done in the US since Breitling reduced dealer margin, as others have noted anything above 20% is pretty good.

Avenger Skyland was renamed Avenger several years ago.

How much dealers choose to take off varies. Some sell at full MSRP. The AD closest to my house does this. The AD down the road (the one I do business with) not only gives me darn good deals, but they have done me plenty of favors that have saved me quite a lot of time and money as well. I generally do business with one guy as I'm very, very happy with how quickly he gets things done, how he follow through, and his professionalism. My advice would be to find an AD you like working with and that you think will take care of you. A good AD won't only give you a good price, but also exceptional service and other odds and ends.

I recently purchased a new navitimer world from my AD. MSRP was $7,600 before tax. I wound up paying $6,300 after tax. Sure I could have bought one from chrono 24 or joma shop for less, but you can't put a price on the piece of mind you get from buying from a AD. You get you hold your brand new watch in your hand and inspect it. If you get anything off MSRP consider it a win. Just my opinion.

I got a Super Avenger with bracelet for $4500 from my local AD (no sales tax in my state) which is just under 20% off.

Returned it for a Montbrillant 47 though.
