So I bought the watch I posted a few weeks ago, chronomat b13048 and its been great. Keeps time within 4-7 seconds per day and more than 37 hour reserve so when I brought my watch in to AD to have them resize the pilot band I didn't ask them to open the back and check to see if it has a matching movement.

Is it prudent to have a movement checked for matching when buying second hand breitlings from the 1990s?

And is there any downside to having it checked for example ruining waterproofing?

If you have an AD or good quality WM service the watch ask them to pressure test it on completion, so there is no real fears on waterproofing issues after they have works on the gobbins.

As for the movement, do you have any fears for the watch not having its original movement installed?

Very unlikely to be any issues with a fake movement in a watch that old - it's pretty rare in the first place and if people were going to do it they would choose a watch that would command more money. As P51 says, get the AD to pressure test the watch when they put the caseback back on and you should be OK. However, the watch sounds like it is starting to give indications of needing a service soon anyway - power reserve down to 37 hours.

I don't have any reason to think so except that it happend once on an ebay Audemars purchase and that experience had me thinking I should do it if I ever bought off ebay again.

Thanks for the input!
