What is wrong with playing golf with your Breitling on? I play regularly and my Steelfish is always on my wrist. As a matter of fact, most people I see at the course are wearing a watch. Lot's of Rolexes and the occasional Breitling.

Lots of threads on this - the shock caused by the club impact can cause damage to a mechanical movement - may sound unlikely but there have been lots of studies done on it and one or two brands have designed specific 'golf safe' mechanical watches that try to provide additional shock protection for the movement.

I'll second that. Although I understand somewhat the forces involved and personally choose not to wear a watch when golfing a mate last week I played three rounds with wore his colt gmt every game with no issues and does so weekly and another always wears his rollie subbie when playing. I'm not saying there aren't some dangers but I reckon most watches could handle it.

Edit: just saw Roffs post after I posted.
Fair enough. Personal choice then :D

Ive only heard anecdotal evidence for and against. I tend to think its not a huge deal as ive never had a problem either.

If you took up the divots I do, you would even wear a G-shock.

Tunnel builder? Fortunately (unfortunately?) my divots are usually pretty shallow.

I think my problem is I'm left handed. at least that's my excuse. Hmmm this raises other potential shock issues. :strummin:

I'm assuming that this is a reference to mfserge's signature as it doesn't seem to have anything to do with this thread. You can't (that I am aware of) he is simply referencing the fact that he tends to sell watches fairly quickly after buying them.

the issue with showers and steamrooms isn't the waterproofing but the steam.

As long as the crown is tight, water on a SA is no problem, never have mine off, shower, swimming, pool or sea,,,,,,i wipe it down with the loaded cloth provided by the AD where i bought it....still like new after almost three years....

I agree I don't think water is an issue especially not in a shower or under a faucet.

The thing is a steamroom or shower has lots of steam which is a gas. Which is not what your watch gaskets are designed to protect against. Steam molecules are much more excited and not as strongly linked together which makes them far more likely to seep into a watch then liquid water.
