Yup, my favourite dial colour in the 49mm, yet in its little brother the 44mm I think the traditional black looks best.

Just bought a Chrono-Matic myself. Not a 49 but a previous A41360 with the left hand crown. Beautiful watch.

I think the latest 49er's are OK. So many models in the Breitling range are now made with coloured bezels. Took me some time to get used to them, but not prepared to right it off at the moment as they may become a classic in years to come. Maybe some here were a little disappointed by the look of bright colours on bezels. So much so, that I opted for the previous Sky Racer with a stainless steel bezel, rather than the newer coloured versions. My only concern with this is the ability to resist damage, as bezels get the brunt of any impact because they are so prominent.

Otherwise, let your love affair with this one overtake you and enjoy the ownership of a fine Breilting watch.

Jim

As we see you're not the only one that likes the Chronomatic. I really like the piece, I like the size of the 49 mm. Being tall, and having huge wrists, it fits me really well like my Chronospace.

I have the 1461 with red bezel. I like it and btw the bezel does not get dirty...

I wish it had a left hand crown, but that's about it. I really enjoy the watch, I have it on rubber with deployant, it is a casual watch for me.

I guess you are lucky so far, I've seen one with a red bezel and the rubber was very dirty and it hadn't seen a hard life either.

Stupid question - why left-hand crown?

Roffensian wrote:
Well I guess red rubber bezels are a matter of personal choice, but......

The entire heritage of a chrono-matic is a left hand crown.

Because the original 1969 Cal. 11 Chrono-Matics had the crown on the left side (due to movement design, not for "lefties" as often wrongly claimed), the "tribute" A41360 44m version did have that feature, but Breitling dropped it with the launch of the 49mm models. Feels wrong.

Here's an example of an original vintage Chrono-Matic
