Happy new year!

I stumbled across the Chronospace Blacksteel on the B web site today.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this in the flesh yet?

Hi txturbo,
The one with 6 offers?

Only one picture and pre-owned. Would want to see more shots for a serious offer. Obviously not giving this one a reasonable discount for there to be 6 offers declined.

I don’t own one and probably never will, as they are a bit out of my price range, but it’s a great looking watch. In black more so, particularly with the black slide rule scales.

The main thing I always worry about with these types of watches is the digital display. Sometimes difficult to isolate faults, particularly intermittent ones. Would opt for a mechanical version second hand rather than a digital. A lot of money for a potential worry, IMHO.

How about a Chrono-Matic Black steel? May not be able to fit a black steel mesh bracelet, but looks cool as is. Or, a 135 or 137 model Chrono-Matic 49 in stainless? So choice.

Jim

I had not seen one for sale. Just on Breitling's web site.

I would not worry too much about the display, it will probably outlive all of us. A mechanical version will be much less reliable.

I would be much more concerned about the DLC.

Anyway.. Just wondering if anyone has actually seen this watch..

I saw one at the Hong Kong boutique yesterday.
As much as I'm not a great fan of blacksteel, this one was actually not too bad.
Not as dark as the other blacksteel models, more like gray rather than black.
I like the Chronospace and one of the ADs in HK still has a Jet Team LE that I would love to own but sadly it's just too big for my puny wrist :-(

Jim, they do a blacksteel mesh, as per the thread I started in the Breitling news section, it's listed in the Chronolog 2013 price list too (£890 Vs £560 for the normal steel version). The Chrono-Matic and ChronoSpace are both 24mm lug width.

I must say I much prefer the BS ChronoSpace with the black dial over the green!! Almost tempting............

Thanks Stefan for the direction on the mesh. I need to get a 2013 Chronolog!

Sorry txturbo. I missed the B ref to where you saw this watch. Thought you were talking of the ones on the Bay.

The digital movement may outlive me, but it’s the potential inherent faults that all digital equipment can display that worry me. These are sometimes hard to diagnose and harder to repair. But, its easy though provided the movement is still available in the future, as you just replace the faulty version………… I would rather put my trust in a mechanical movement on cost and assurance levels though.

I am probably old fashioned but mechanical movements 'talk to me'.
